I want to provide a detailed feedback/justification on why I gave this 2 star rating and why I think no one should rent from Afshin. Lets start with the positives Car - The car was in good condition. It was clean with no personal belongings. There is some damage on the passenger mirror that Afshin acknowledged. Service - I'd asked Afshin if he could drop off the car to the Square one area. Due to miscommunication, this didn't happen. Hence Afshin compensated for that by allowing me to drop off the car closer to my place and hence he gets the 2 stars. The negatives Pickup - When I picked up the car, Afshin seemed very concerned about how his previous rental had not returned the car back in "impeccable" condition. He also pointed out to really small imperfections in his paint and said that this was due to his previous rentals. He then asked me what kind of insurance I had if he had to cover this. It did raise a red-flag that he was being too picky and I told him that what he was pointing to was normal wear and tear and insurance wont cover them. I then picked up the car and drove off. Mid-Trip communication : After I picked up the car, Afshin sent me a message and asked me to put only premium gas in his car. Although I felt its too much of an overkill for a Toyota, I complied with his request. I even uploaded pictures of my gas fill-up receipts as proof of putting only premium fuel. Towards the end of the trip, he reminded me a couple of times on how he is expecting the car in flawless condition. I assured him that I would take good care of his car and actually got the car detailed (receipt uploaded as proof) to comply with his request. Return - Afshin was kind enough to take the return closer to where I live. However, he then started pointing out at a very faint micro-scratch on the bumper less than ~2 inches. I told him that this scratch is barely visible and very small. Its also expected if I used his car for > 1 week to him some wear and tear. He also pointed to a small scratch (less than 1/2 inch) on the tire rubber. Once again, I told him that these were not damages and expected wear and tear. After taking a few very close-up photos of them (because you cant seem them unless you go too close) he asked me not to worry about it and told me "I'm good". After trip - Turo notified me after trip completion that Afshin had claimed damages on the vehicle and sent me close-up pictures taken by him. I was completely furious and reminded Turo's claims specialist of their own wear and tear policy. Besides these scratches were so small that you couldn't see them in the before and after shots taken on a high res camera. Due to the unusual requests and return experience, I totally do not recommend that you rent from Afshin. He is very "uptight" and very picky about his car. Unless you want such a picky host, don't rent from him.
