In some cases, we require a security deposit before you may drive the car. The deposit amount is collected in full before the start of the trip. For instant book trips, this will be collected when you complete checkout. For other vehicles, it will be charged when the host approves the trip. If the deposit collection is unsuccessful, the trip will not be booked.
If a security deposit is required, you’ll be notified before you checkout.
We will automatically refund a security deposit 80 hours after your trip ends. Your bank may take up to 10 days to return the funds to your account. If you dispute a host's reimbursement request or you don't respond to a reimbursement request within 80 hours after your trip ends, we will use the deposit to reimburse the host and refund you any remaining deposit amount. If a host files a damage claim within 80 hours after your trip ends, we will freeze the deposit. Once we resolve the claim, we will use the deposit to cover the damage and refund you any remaining deposit amount. If we find that the claim is ineligible or that the host is responsible, we will refund you the full deposit amount.
