I almost never leave negative reviews for anything or anyone on any platform, and I want to be clear that I am only doing so here after multiple and repeated attempts to get in contact with the host Cierra (via texts, phone calls, and direct Turo messages) to resolve things personally in a friendly way. I will also update this review and rating if I ever able to get Cierra to return my repeated attempts to get in contact. I scheduled the trip for free delivery to the Stamford train station. I reached out to host Cierra directly after booking, and asked if she would be amenable to just driving a couple blocks further than the train station to my apartment since I live very close by, and I offered to pay her whatever she thought was fair for that extra couple blocks as I wasn't asking for 'something for nothing'. She told me to go on Turo and put in my delivery address and pay the delivery charge, which... wasn't a fun start. But frankly, she'll well within her rights to do that; I just wish she had said "no" to driving a couple blocks to me BEFORE she was just 5 minutes from the train station so I could have hoofed it by foot to the train station for the agreed-upon free delivery; instead, by the time she responded it was too late for me to get there. Additionally, she was between 15-30 minutes late dropping off the car, which... oh well, things happen, and I figured she would just kindly update the trip end time to correspond with the time she dropped it. Nope. Anyway, Cierra arrives, we chat while inspecting the car, and I specified that I was using the car to drive up into central Connecticut -- Windsor Locks -- for a medical appointment (since I don't have a car myself, unfortunately), the round trip being about 150 miles or so. Cierra didn't respond one way or the other to that, and I didn't think anything about this again until later, when it factors in. I have no direct complaints about the car itself, except that now having driven it for that day I would never have paid the price she set for her car -- there are far better, more premium cars on Turo for the same price-point, but hindsight is 20/20. For the return of the car, I'd filled the gas back to the same spot or maybe just slightly over where it was when it was dropped off for me, and per my arrangements with Cierra, I parked the car outside my apartment building, left the key with the front desk person, and I confirmed with Cierra once she picked up the car so I knew we were all set. Later that evening, Cierra texted me and said that I went way over the specified mileage in her Turo ad, and that she would put in a reimbursement request. I'm brand new to Turo, and I didn't notice at all that there was a mileage cap! So hey, that's my fault, you live and you learn, and I acknowledged her message and said the same ("no worries, I didn't realize, live and learn, thanks for letting me know"). However, I found it to be quite odd that I'd specifically discussed with her where I was going and the distance, and she declined to mention anything out of courtesy regarding the mileage. I'll never know if that was intentional or not, and again I don't dispute that the mileage cap was indeed there in the ad, but I sure didn't notice (my own fault), and I definitely would have appreciated if she were to have mentioned the extra $180 I'd be looking at. Lastly, somehow she added gas expenses into the reimbursement she billed me, and I was tending to a family health situation and just went ahead and let the reimbursement automatically apply after a couple days. Upon coming back, and noticing she had added gas charges to the reimbursement, I spent several days politely reaching out to speak with her, giving benefit of the doubt that she may have done it erroneously and it would be easy for us to sort out together. Fast forward 5 days, and I have no responses to my Turo messages, no responses to texts, no returned phone calls, and now things feel almost like... it was just plausibly deniable to not be egregious but just enough negative stuff that it feels really, really icky and potentially intentional. Cierra, if you're reading this, I TRULY hope you are safe and well and that it's not due to some unfortunate or critical emergency that I am not hearing back from you. I hope to hear from you soon so we can resolve this.
