It was great to find a very affordable car for my trip. Pick up was pretty easy, location was convenient enough using PATH from the city. The car itself was ok, it drove well enough to get me about 1.5 hours north of the city on flat, well-paved roads. I would not recommend for any rough terrain. My main concern was that the AC did not work during my trip. My friend and were pretty uncomfortable given the NY heat. I only realized this already into my drive and although I figured Turo could book me another car, I had no time for that. Aside from that, this car is adequate for short-terms needs.

This booking mostly worked out but the instructions were not clear and the host was not always responsive to in-app messages, especially in the days leading up to and of the trip. Also, the host called on the phone more than using the app which was somewhat disruptive. If I was on a business trip that would have been more frustrating. On the last day of the booking she called to change drop off locations which was manageable but still somewhat disruptive to our overall trip. There were also issues with the car itself. The braking was a little rough and the car alarm went off every time we unlocked it. I’m sure we could have asked the host about the alarm but because communication with her was not always reliable we just opted to deal with the alarm (it turned off when staring the engine) instead of creating more issues to raise with the host. Also, lastly, on top of the pickup instructions being unclear they felt risky and not secure. That’s all I feel comfortable saying. If this was my first Turo booking I probably wouldn’t use the service again. My three star rating is generous.
