This was my first rental and I must say it was horrible. Let me start off by saying I picked the car up in Washington D.C. after booking it at 1:21pm I called and asked could I head there sooner and he said no I would have to be the pick up time scheduled I said okay no problem I assumed he would be needing time to wash and clean the car. Now.. I arrive in Washington D.C. and he's late. I drove over 1hr to get to him and he's late. Then I am amazed that the car isnt cleaned at all. It has bird poop all over the car, All the windows are dirty, The inside was not vacuumed, I was just amazed because he had 2.5hrs to get the car ready for me. I had to take the vehicle and get it washed myself and clean the windows (not my job but the car was not presentable for what I rented it for so it needed to be done). Then I roll the windows down to get some air and I smell something that smells like brakes when they heat up.... I pay it no mind. Roll the windows back up and listen to some music. This is on my way back from D.C. picking the car up.... maybe 15mins into the return trip back home with the Mercedes. Traffic slows down because it's rush hour and I apply the brakes and you can feel some shaking in the car and steering wheel. I make it home to start cleaning the car and my fiance who is very fond of cars and works on his own cars checks it out once I tell him what I felt. He looks over the brakes immediately and says the drivers side rear brake rotor is completely gone. It's metal on metal that's the noise you were hearing, the smell and vibration when you apply the brakes. I rented the car unknowingly that a person would rent out an unsafe vehicle. Also the front drivers side tire had a huge air bubble on the side wall that couldve caused a blow out at any time. I was very very disappointed. I really liked the car and I had went through all this hassle and the car just started to show extreme signs of neglect. TPS light was on but that was no issue because that just means it needs air but as the owner you can't take 1 second to properly inflate your tires for others safety? There was another warning that wouldnt go away for "check windshield fluid". Look I'm not bashing the owner at all but he really could have just fixed what was wrong. I'm angry that he put my safety and families safety as risk. Being dishonest is not something I believe in. Hopefully turo checks cars more thoroughly and this can start the process of making owners take care of their cars and keep all maintenance up to date if they're renting out these vehicles for profit.
