Vehicle was not as advertised; listed as a manual transmission and ends up being an automatic when I get there. No photos of the inside of the car were available prior to renting the car, so there was no way to verify the vehicle's drivetrain until I got there to pick it up. Host wouldn't conveniently resolve the issue by swapping to a different car with a manual gearbox, but instead insisted that if I required a car with a manual transmission that I would have to cancel my current rental with the MINI Cooper and re-rent another one of his vehicles once they were available (he also had no firm answer as to when that might be). Vehicle had substantial damage to the quarter panels that had been hastily repainted and damage to the rear lights not accurately depicted in the listing's photos. The car chimed constantly that an exterior bulb was burnt out and the vehicle did not come equipped with Bluetooth. Normally, this wouldn't be an issue, as I typically just bring a Bluetooth transmitter with me just in case, but the listing's description only repeated "Mini Cooper" 25 times instead of correctly listing the vehicle's features and transmission type. The last vehicle I rented from Carlos had a mechanical problem during my rental and I decided to give him another chance thanks to the initially great customer service he had provided, but looks like I was let down once again! The icing on the cake for this rental was when I encountered a small, completely repairable rock chip in the windshield the day before my rental was over. Carlos said to tell Turo about the damage so that they could "take care of it". Turo ended up charging me a $500 deductible for their claim and told me if I did not want to do so that I could settle up with the host directly. After talking with the host, he told me that repairing the rock chip is a "scam", that the entire windshield needs to be replaced and that he might just "wait to see if it cracks over the next few days". After that, I ended up just paying Turo the $500 deductible and try to get my MasterCard benefits reimburse me because I want nothing to do with this vehicle at this point; I have other things to worry about. This is not only the host's issue but an issue with Turo's customer service handling their claims processes as well. Previous Turo hosts I reached out to about this situation all said that the way Carlos handled the rock chip is not the route they would've gone if I had rented from them. If I had known I would be dealing with this rock chip two weeks later, I would have just had it filled myself. Overall, I wish I had chosen any other host in Phoenix for the time I was there, as this experience has been a complete headache. Please be careful and inspect vehicle and host details thoroughly, as your experience may vary greatly.
Wow I can’t believe you are saying all this. All just for a damage you did to the car and didn’t want to pay for it. It really tells me how you have two faces. Trying to be nice hoping the time for the claim to the damage passes so you can get away without paying for the damage. Sorry but it doesn’t work like that. Just be honest and man up for your consequences instead of leaving a bad review which doesn’t really bother me at all. I have over 2000 trips with 5 star rating. God bless 👍.
