Why does the car immediately slow down when I let off the pedal?
The car has regenerative braking, which means it will slow and stop when you let off the gas. You get used to it quickly, so it's just a head's up so you aren't surprised when you first experience it.
How do I charge the car?
To charge the car using Tesla's Supercharger network, you first need to navigate to a supercharger using the mapping system you can access on the middle screen. Then you open the charge port from the middle screen. You can do this my pressing on the small power icon on the purple car on the left part of the screen. You can also access the trunk on the car as well. Then you take the charger from the super charger you are parked in front of, and you plug the car in. *IMPORTANT* when you go to unhook the charging wire, press and release the button on the handle, pause briefly, then pull the charging wire out. The charge will hit my account, and I pass that expense on to you a few days after your rental has ended. Note - I don't mark it up, so you'll only pay for what you use. If you would like to charge outside of the tesla network, we keep two adaptors in the bottom well of the trunk. One is an adaptor for J1772 charging, and the other is as an adaptor for 120 volt charging (I.e. normal wall plug for trickle charging).
What happens if I return the car with less than 65% charge?
If the car is returned lower than 65% battery I will charge you a fee of $30.
How do I unlock the car with the key card?
To lock and unlock the car using the key card, you hold the key to the area between the front and back driver side windows, about 1-2 inches up from the bottom of the window glass. You'll know the car locked or unlocked when the mirrors fold in (for locked) or out (for unlocked).
How do I shift the car into gear?
To put the car in gear, first you put the key card on the flat surface between the cup holders and the middle console. Then you press the brake, and press the right stalk down until the upper left of the middle screen shows Drive "D". You press the right stalk up and down to switch between the different gears. For example, to shift to Reverse from Drive you would press the stalk up. To put the car in Park, you press the button in that is located on the end of the right stalk.
How do I open the door?
To open the doors, you press your thumb against the wider part of the handle, and the other end will pivot out, which you can then grab and pull to open the car.
