You are responsible to return it in the condition it was when you took it, and you are responsible to reimburse for any expenses incurred. Supercharging costs show up on my account and are billed to my credit card almost immediately, and I will request reimbursement shortly after end of booking. These are generally cheaper than gasoline would have been on another car, especially if you charge off peak (there are details in the car charging map, last time I checked it was one half off after 9 p.m. or before 11 a.m. at most Bay area charging stations, and there are 3-4 stations that have off-peak pricing all day. The car charges fast to about 85%, approximately 234 miles range, and then slows. Unless you expect charging will be scarce further along, it's often best to move along at that point. The car also charges slowly when charge is low, so it's best to find supercharging before it goes below 10%. I recommend a "charge early, charge often, take lots of short breaks" strategy. An attitude of "let's see if this vehicle can do its advertised range" results in *slower* overall trips. And range anxiety. For battery longevity and rapid charging we try to keep the battery between 20 and 90%, when parked. If you are going to drive a long distance it's okay to charge to 100% just before you depart, but be aware that it will charge more slowly at the low or top end. If the battery runs dead, there will be a $500 fee, along with any additional fees for towing.
