Can I charge the car at (non-Tesla) destination chargers?
YES, although these are a very slow way to charge the car compared to Tesla Superchargers and should only be used if you can leave the car for several hours. There is an SAE J1772 charging adapter for non-Tesla charging stations included in the car. It's inside the armrest storage compartment. Guest agrees to pay $125 to replace it if it's missing or damaged. You may download these apps to find the nearest J1772 non-Tesla charging stations near you: 1. Chargehub 2. Plugshare 3. ChargePoint. Some are free, some require you to pay per use. These destination charging stations are located at places like: beaches, hotels, shopping malls, grocery stores, gas stations, car dealerships, parking facilities, amusement parks and attractions, and many other places. Use the vehicle's touchscreen (or Apps or Google) to locate the nearest charging stations. Do not run the car down to 0% battery. You must keep the battery charged between 20% and 90% at all times.
How do I locate and use Tesla Superchargers?
No matter where you drive, Tesla's incredible touchscreen display will map out a plentiful amount of Superchargers in your area. Look for the lightning bolt icon on the navigation system and it will show you the nearest charging information. You can also press the right side wheel button on the steering wheel to activate voice commands and say "take me to a Tesla Supercharger", or click on Navigation on the touchscreen and type in Tesla Supercharger, and it will display a few choices. ALWAYS choose a Tesla Supercharger over a destination charger. You must keep the battery charged between 20% and 90% at all times. When you arrive at the Tesla Supercharging Station: 1) Backup into the Tesla Supercharging station parking space. 2) Point the charging nozzle at the charge port door and press the power button on the nozzle and the door will open. 2b) OR press the lightning bolt icon on the touchscreen and press "Open Charge Port." 3) Insert the Tesla charging nozzle into the charge port. 4) The charge port door will close by itself upon removal of the charging nozzle. The center screen will tell you when your charging will be complete. Set an alarm so you can leave the charging station at the time you finish charging. Tesla idle fees are very expensive, up to $1 per minute, so move the car within 5 minutes of completing charge to avoid paying fees.
How do I properly close the front trunk (frunk) to avoid damaging it?
The Model 3 hood is not heavy enough to latch under its own weight and applying pressure on the front edge or center of the hood can cause damage such as a dent or a crease. Do not slam or drop the hood. Do not close the hood with one hand. Use both hands with equal downward pressure to close the hood. To properly close the hood: 1. Lower the hood until the striker touches the latches. 2. Place both hands on the front center of the hood about 4 inches from each side of the T logo, then press down firmly to engage the latches. 3. Carefully try to lift the front edge of the hood to ensure that it is fully closed.
Using Turo Go, how do I check in to start my trip?
Follow the Turo Go check-in instructions on the Turo app to unlock and access the Tesla. You’ll need Wi-Fi or cellular data to check in for your trip. You'll need to take pre-trip photos of the car and upload them on Turo Trip Photos.
How long does it take to charge the car?
Using a level 1 home 120 volt standard wall outlet you get about 3 miles per hour of charge. Using a level 2 (J1772) destination 240 volt outlet charger you get about 30 miles per hour of charge. Using a level 3 Tesla Supercharge Station you get about 500+ miles of charge per hour. This is the fastest and best way to charge. To add about 100 miles of driving range: Level 1 will take about 33 hours. Level 2 will take about 3 hours. Level 3 will take about 8 minutes. *charge times will vary.
Can I use my smartphone to control the car via the Tesla app?
Yes, this is an optional Extra listed under "Portable GPS" that you may choose to add before the start of your trip. You'll download the Tesla app and be able to use your smartphone as a key, lock/unlock, start car, summon and smart summon, climate control, open trunks, honk horn, flash lights, view charge level, and much more! *Requires your email
Is Tesla Supercharging free?
NO, Tesla Supercharging is NOT FREE. Tesla bills at least $0.28/kwh and guests are responsible for paying for all charging fees at the end of rental. Additionally, Supercharger idle fees are up to $1.00/min if the car is plugged in and not actively charging. *rates subject to change. To AVOID IDLE FEES unplug and move the car within 5 minutes of it completing charge. It takes about 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% on a Tesla Supercharger, this is the FASTEST and best charging option. Use the vehicle's touchscreen (or Apps or Google) to locate the nearest charging stations. Do not run the car down to 0% battery. You must keep the battery charged between 20% and 90% at all times.
What if the battery drops between 0% and 20%?
The car may enter info a low-power consumption mode to conserve the remaining battery power and divert that power to only essential items. The car's top priority will be to safely get you to a charging station. In this mode, the battery may stop supporting the onboard electronics, climate controls, and all non-essential functions, as well as reducing the acceleration and limiting the speed. Just like in a gasoline car, if you run the battery to 0% (empty), the vehicle will stop dead and you will be stranded and need to have it towed on a flatbed truck, at your expense, to a charging station. This could damage the battery or other components and you may be charged for repair/ replacement. ALWAYS keep the Tesla battery charged between 20% and 90%
Is the speed or performance limited during my trip?
NO. The speed limit mode and valet mode are deactivated. You'll have FULL speed and performance power when driving my car. Some hosts activate these options and greatly limit and reduce the speed and performance of the car. These hosts then charge you a high fee to access the car's full performance. I do not charge you a fee nor limit the car's speed or performance. Even though my car is very quick and fast, please drive it safely and responsibly and abide by all laws.
Do I need to clean the vehicle before return?
All we ask is that you return the vehicle in the same condition you picked it up in. We don't expect you to go out and detail the car before return, but we do appreciate the car being tidy upon return. All of our cars come with unlimited car wash and vacuum passes. You will receive details about the car wash in booking messages.
Are you flexible with extensions? Returning the car early? Adjusting pick-up/return time?
Yes! The vehicle will be ready for you at your pick-up time but if you need to pick it up after that is perfectly fine. We do ask that any significant changes be made in the app under the “Modify Trip Details” section - this is particularly important if you are going to be more than 30 minutes late at vehicle drop-off or if you want to pick up the car more than 30 minutes early. If you need to extend or shorten your trip that is also flexible, pending that the vehicle is available.
How do tolls work? Do I have to pay for tolls?
Yes, as a renter you are responsible for all toll charges. At the end of each trip, Turo automatically goes through and tallies up all the toll charges and we request reimbursement at the end of the trip.
