There are lots of free destination charging in Santa Monica. Santa Monica public garages have free parking for 90 minutes and free charging at about 26 mi/hour. Some businesses also provide free charging. If you use the Tesla Supercharger network (maybe even faster than 400mi/hour), I will pass on the cost to you, still much cheaper than gasoline (yuck!). Not fully charged on return...no worries...and no charge if more than 40 miles of charge...otherwise a small $10 extra charge applies.
