FAQs

  • What do I need to know about the charging levels and equipment return policy?

The car will be provided with at least an 80% charge and must be returned with the same charge level or higher. If you do not select the prepaid charging option at the start of your trip and return the car with a lower charge, the following fees will apply. Turo automatically adds a $10 convenience fee to any post-trip recharging invoice. Additionally, if the car is returned with less than 20% battery, a $20 low battery fee will apply. Battery difference fees: 11% – 30% battery difference = $5 31% – 60% battery difference = $15 61% – 80% battery difference = $20 81%+ battery difference = $25 Your rental also includes a genuine Tesla mobile charger, along with two genuine Tesla adapters: a CCS adapter and a J1772 adapter, all stored in the mobile charger bag. It's crucial to return all of these items, as failure to do so will result in us seeking full reimbursement at the current market price. Thank you for understanding and adhering to these guidelines!

  • Is there smoking permitted in the car?

NO SMOKING! If any lingering smell of cigarettes, marijuana, or vaping is detected, we will report it to Turo. Turo may impose a charge of up to $150 for detailed cleaning services.

  • Do we have to clean the car when returning?

Customers are not expected to clean or disinfect the vehicle before returning it. However, if the vehicle is returned in a condition that indicates irresponsible or abusive behavior, we will report the issue to Turo. Turo customer support will review the evidence and may impose a $150 cleaning violation fee, with the possibility of removing the customer from the platform.

  • Will car come activated with toll pass?

Please be aware that the vehicle does not come equipped with any toll passes or transponders. You will need to cover any tolls incurred during your trip using your own payment method. If you use toll roads or bridges, be sure to pay the tolls promptly to avoid any additional fees or fines. Keep track of your toll expenses, as failure to pay may result in penalties.

  • What If I'm Involved in an Accident While Driving the Rental?

Ensure Safety: First, make sure everyone involved is safe. If there are any injuries, call emergency services immediately. Document the Scene: Take photos of the accident scene, including all vehicles involved, any visible damage, color, and license plates. If possible, capture the other party's driver’s name and license, as well as relevant surroundings. This documentation will be helpful later. Exchange Information: Exchange contact and insurance information with the other driver(s) involved in the accident. The Turo Incident Info Card will be available for you in the center console. Ask the other party to take a photo of it for their records, as well as the police if they are present, and do the same with their insurance information for your and our records. If there are any witnesses, try to get their contact details as well. Report the Accident to the Police: Depending on the severity of the accident, you may need to report it to the police. In some states, this is mandatory for accidents involving injuries or significant property damage. Notify Turo: Report the accident to Turo as soon as possible. You can do this through the app or by calling their customer support. Turo will guide you through the next steps, including insurance claims and potential repairs. Contact the Host: Promptly inform us about the accident. Follow Up on Insurance: Turo provides various levels of insurance coverage depending on the protection plan you selected. Be sure to follow up with Turo’s claims process and provide any necessary documentation. Review Turo’s Policies: Familiarize yourself with Turo’s accident policies and procedures, including your responsibilities and what to expect in terms of coverage and possible out-of-pocket expenses. Staying calm and following these steps will help ensure that the situation is handled properly.

  • I’ve Never Driven a Tesla—What Are the Basics?

I’ve included a QR code in the car that you can scan with your phone to watch a short tutorial and explanation on how everything works and what to expect. For a quick overview, here’s a Tesla Model 3 Quick Guide: ### Tesla Model 3 Quick Guide - **Unlocking/Locking**: Swipe your key card on the pillar to unlock or lock the car. To enter, press your thumb on the flush door handle, pull it out, and open the door. To exit, press the button on the inside door handle. - **Touchscreen Controls**: The 15-inch central touchscreen manages most features, including the radio, air conditioning, steering wheel, and mirrors. The interface is minimalistic, with only the touchscreen and two scrollable buttons on the steering wheel. - **Climate Control**: Tap the fan icon on the touchscreen to access climate controls. You can adjust heated seats individually, including the middle back seat. - **Navigation**: The navigation system plans your route, including stops at superchargers, and displays battery levels and charging times. - **Driving Controls**: To start driving, press the brake, then: - **Down** for drive - **Up** for reverse - **Press the button** on the side for park - **Hold up** to the first setting for neutral - **Dashboard Info**: The touchscreen shows speed, gear, energy use, and cruise control settings, as there’s no traditional gauge cluster. - **Cruise Control & Autopilot**: Activate cruise control by pressing down on the right stalk. Adjust speed using the touchscreen or steering wheel scroll. Engage Autopilot by pushing down twice on the right stalk. Autopilot keeps you in your lane and can change lanes automatically. Disengage by braking or steering. - **Supercharging**: To charge, back into a supercharger spot, open the charge port, plug in, and wait 30 minutes to an hour. You can use the entertainment menu to watch Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, or play games while charging. - **Entertainment**: Log in to your Netflix, Hulu, or Spotify accounts. You can also connect your phone via Bluetooth, listen to the radio, or search for podcasts. This guide should help you get familiar with the Tesla Model 3's unique features.

  • What is One-Pedal Drive and What Can I Expect When Using It?

I’ve included a QR code in the car that you can scan with your phone to watch a short tutorial and explanation on how it works and what to expect. But here’s the short version: One-Pedal Driving Guideline What It Is: One-pedal driving allows the car to slow down to a complete stop when you release the accelerator, without needing to use the brakes. This feature maximizes regenerative braking, converting kinetic energy back into the battery. How It Works: In a gas car, releasing the accelerator slightly reduces power, and the car coasts to lower speeds. In an electric vehicle with one-pedal driving, pressing the pedal down accelerates the car, while releasing it partially slows the car by regenerating power. Fully releasing the pedal uses maximum regeneration to bring the car to a stop. To coast, find the "sweet spot" between partial acceleration and regeneration. Practical Use: One-pedal driving works even on hilly roads. As you drive downhill, slight adjustments to the pedal control the car’s speed, and the brake lights will activate when regenerative braking is engaged. Getting Used to It: One-pedal driving may feel unusual at first, but most drivers adapt quickly after a few blocks. It makes the ride smoother and is especially beneficial in stop-and-go traffic. Brake Lights: When regenerative braking is active, the brake lights will turn on, just like when using traditional brakes. Overall, one-pedal driving enhances driving efficiency and provides a smoother, more controlled experience.

  • What is Full Self-Driving (FSD)?

Full Self-Driving (FSD) is Tesla’s advanced driver assistance system designed to enable fully autonomous driving capabilities under certain conditions. While the system includes impressive autonomous features, it still requires the driver’s attention and readiness to take control if necessary. Important Notice: While Full Self-Driving (FSD) offers advanced autonomous features, the driver remains fully responsible for the vehicle at all times. n the event of any incident or accident while FSD is active, the driver will still be held liable for any damages. By using FSD, you acknowledge and accept responsibility for maintaining control over the vehicle and ensuring safe operation throughout your trip.
