  The Ford Mustang's convertible top should be moved when the engine is started or the key is turned to the "on" position in the ignition. Locate a lever in the center of the roof at the front of the vehicle. Grasp the hard lever and pull it down, then turn right or clockwise. The lever will make a "popping" or "clicking" sound when released. Use the overhead dash button identified by a picture of the Mustang, to raise the top by depressing the "up" arrow continuously. The convertible button will automatically lower the Mustang's side windows as the top folds mechanically backwards and recesses between the rear seating and cargo area. To raise, depress the "down" facing arrow until the lid closes and then twist the lever leftwards or counter clockwise until it clicks into place.
