Description

This is a 2018 Tesla Model 3 picked up in April 2018 (VIN ends in 228XX). Configuration with long range battery (310 mile range), premium upgrade package (glass roof, premium audio, premium interior), and enhanced autopilot (Autopilot 2.5) enabled. Perfect for traveling anywhere around SF / Bay Area and more! The Model 3 is an incredible driving experience that can't be adequately described with words - it's best for you to try it out yourself. All I ask is that you treat my Model 3 well and take great care of the car as it was your own. No food or drinks inside the vehicle. PLEASE PLEASE no smoking or vaping as the smell can be very difficult and expensive to get out. The car will have a charge of around 250 miles on it at the time of rental. If you need more, please let me know and I can charge it to 310 miles for you. When returning, please return car with at least 50 miles on it to help preserve the battery. This car is very easy to drive, and I'll happily go over the advanced features and give you a full "tech tour" of the vehicle if you want it. Charging can be done at any Tesla supercharger (fee required), public L2 charger (J1772 and Tesla connectors only), or at home (through provided universal Tesla Charger). Please make sure to plan your trip accordingly and know where you’ll need to charge. Call or text me anytime for assistance with charging. 200 Miles are included per day. Mileage over the reservation limit will be charged at $0.79 per mile. Vehicle comes equipped with FasTrak transponder for easy access to all toll bridges and express lanes in northern CA, as well as certain parking lots at SFO. Though Supercharger and Fastrak access is offered as conveniences, these services are NOT FREE. The renter is still responsible for usage fees. Vehicle is also equipped with front and rear dash cams with loop recording in case of an accident. Convenience • 15" touchscreen with onboard maps & navigation • Wi-Fi and LTE internet connectivity • Voice activated controls • 60/40 split folding rear seats • Center console with open storage and two USB ports

Parking details

We'd like to meet you if we're free to get the car back. Please meet at the same location that we did the key handoff so we can look over the car and you can tell us how your trip was.

Guidelines

No smoking or vaping. Pets welcome, but please return the car clean. No food or drinks.

Faqs

  • How do I charge the vehicle?

The vehicle will come with a charging cord which can be used in your garage. It comes with standard 110v plug (NEMA 5-15, charges ~4 miles/hour) and 240v plug (NEMA 14-50, charges up to ~35 miles/hour, depending on the maximum current allowed at that outlet). You can also use the extensive Tesla supercharger network. Fees and/or idle fees will be added at the end of your trip via Turo app. In addition, you can use public J1772 chargers with the included J1772 adapter. I keep a chargepoint card in the car. If you use a chargepoint network that requires a fee, that fee will be passed onto you via Turo (some chargepoint stations are free and some public chargers don't require a membership).

  • Do I have to return the car fully charged?

No, but if possible, please return with at least 50 miles left.

  • Does the car come with Autopilot? How do I use that?

Yes, the car comes with Tesla's "Enhanced Autopilot 2.0." To engage, double-tap downwards on the gear selector stalk. Please only use on the highway and keep your hands on the wheel and stay observant. It can be very dangerous if you don't pay attention. Tesla's Autopilot also has a mechanism to check to see if your hands are on the wheel. It detects a slight torque on the wheel that you need to apply every now and then. Tesla's autopilot is essentially two functions combined: Traffic-Aware Cruise Control (TACC) and Lane Keeping. TACC will maintain a max speed and a minimum follow distance to the car in front. Lane Keeping keeps you centered in the lane when the lane markings are visible. If the lane markings are poor, there is a merging lane, a lane split, or construction, autopilot may not be able to react appropriately and it is very important you, as the driver, remain aware and able to take over. I don't want you to end up on the news for the worst reasons! If you plan on using autopilot, please let me know and I will be happy to demonstrate responsible usage which can make your ride much easier and smoother.

  • Do I have to return the car clean?

Yes please, I expect the interior to be returned in the same condition as when I hand it off to you. No food, drinks, smoking or vaping inside the vehicle. We will levy a cleaning fee to maintain the highest standard experience for the next renter, especially if you smoke because smoke smell is ridiculously difficult to get out. Cleaning fee is $350 to remove bad odors. There is no need to clean the exterior - I like to hand wash my car. Please DO NOT take the car through a car wash.

  • What's the range of the car?

Fully charged, it can go 310 miles until empty, but please don't drive it until it's empty. I will deliver with 80% charge (250 miles) unless you specifically tell me to charge it to 90% or 100%. If possible, don't let it fall below 50 miles for long because that can be damaging to the battery. If you're going on a road trip, the fastest and best way is to use https://abetterrouteplanner.com/ to plan your route and charging. The website will tell you when to stop, where to stop, and for how long to charge.

Jeffrey and his wife (never caught her name!) were so kind, helpful, and easy-going, it made the entire experience very pleasant. Oh yeah, and their car is awesome!! If I’m in the area again soon, I’ll be sure to repeat!

Jeffrey was a friendly guy and great at bringing me up to speed on the Model 3. He was also flexible with times and locations for pickup and drop off which was great. The car was in great condition in terms of both cleanliness and lack of damage. This allowed me to experience a car that I probably wont get access to back in the UK until 2020, for a better price than if I were to go with a traditional rental company. Avoiding writing a review of the Model 3 itself, other than to say it was everything I was hoping it would be and personally, I prefer it to the Model S (and anything else I have driven), which I have rented previously through Turo. This trip confirmed that I will be obtaining one of these cars in the near future.
