Description

Don't wait to grab this one, the lowest priced Tesla in SLC! Get a taste of the future, how electric cars were meant to be - quick, intelligent and convenient! This is a 2018 Mid Range (260mi), Rear Wheel Drive, Tesla Model 3 with Autopilot!!! Black exterior and black interior, 0-60 in 5 seconds with off the line torque that bests many performance cars! If you're like me, you'll be addicted instantly, but somehow it never gets old :D. All powered by clean, low emission solar energy thanks to the Rocky Mountain Power Subscriber Solar Program. The excellent traction control helps this car do quite well in the snow, even with rear wheel drive, although obviously it's not made for off roading or deep snow, so it's best kept in the valley during the winter. If you're looking for a car you can sleep in, look no further, the rear seats can fold perfectly flat if you need, and you can use camper mode to keep the car at whatever temperature you like. It will also automatically control the humidity - no more waking up fogged up :). I try to keep my prices low because I really want to help everyone experience how great electric vehicles are, especially the way Tesla has integrated the autopilot, navigation, and charging experience. Please return the favor by taking care of her and leaving great reviews so I can keep passing on the good deals! There are many free charging options with Chargepoint and other networks, although some may charge me directly, as the Tesla Superchargers do, which I will pass on to you through reimbursement requests. Costs are typically less than $10 per charging session although idle fees can add up to significantly more than that if you leave the car at a charger after it's done charging, which will be your responsibility as well ;). If you end up buying a Tesla and want some free supercharging, use my code to help us both out! ts.la/josh6353

Parking details

Get $25 off your first trip: https://turo.com/c/josha232 - The Model 3 will usually be found in the parking areas on the North OR East side of the Public Safety Building when ready for pickup. Alternatively, it may be on the south side of the building, or in the library parking garage. Sometimes I can be flexible and help arrange other pickups and drop offs, feel free to ask.

Guidelines

Please return car as you found it, as it's essentially brand new. Strictly no pets, no smoking, no exceptions. I love pets and have had them all my life but this is just not the car for them. By renting this vehicle, you agree not to smoke in or around the vehicle, and keep pets are least 10 feet away. Any signs of smoking or pets will incur a minumum $500 fee, as it can be extremely difficult to eliminate odors! Well behaved kids are allowed, but not recommended because I know kids can have minds of their own. Please keep an eye on them and expect to return the car as you found it. I apologise in advance for the black color being so hard to keep clean, but I appreciate your help in doing so :). Car washes and vacuums are plentiful, and are quick and easy, I try to keep a squeegee, towel, and glass cleaner in the back to make it easy for you to keep clean. If you're not able to do this, I've offered a cleaning fee to help cover my time and costs to do that, otherwise I will have to assess cleaning fees after the trip to cover my time and cost. Thank you in advance for your help in keeping the car clean for the next customer! I've stocked the car with a few convenience items including face wipes, toothbrushes, and charging cables and chargers. Please be sure to return the chargers and cables, 3 of them have walked off so far, so I'm going to have to start charging for those when they disappear. Don't worry about the single use stuff though ;)

Faqs

  • Do I need the Tesla app?

No, because there's not a guest access feature in the app yet, I'm not comfortable giving out my login info unless you're using the car for a month or more. I do have app access to the car as long as it has cell service and I'm happy to help with locking, unlocking, setting the charge status, and anything else the app can do, just text or call.

  • Is there a key? How do I lock, unlock and drive the car?

There is a key card that is kept in the center console, I will unlock the vehicle via app when you first get to the vehicle, from that point you will use the key card to lock, unlock and drive the vehicle, so be sure to keep track of it. It's the same size as a credit card, so it's easy to put in your wallet, just be sure to leave the key card back in the center console when leaving the vehicle. Watch this video for a quick demo: https://youtu.be/7xxCgtXEMVY

  • How and where do I charge the car?

Charging options are numerous. The fastest (30-60 min) will be the Tesla Superchargers, typically found along major highways across the US: https://www.tesla.com/findusm#/ They also list their destination chargers (2-8hrs) on that site as well. Chargepoint and other third party networks are very common as well, there is a J1772 adapter in the car for these with a Chargepoint card attached to it for easy use. Most of these are free, but some will occasionally charge a fee. I highly recommend downloading the Chargepoint and Plugshare apps to find those options. There is also a 20' cable in the vehicle, with adapters for standard 110v household charging (good for overnight charging but only gives you~ 3 miles of range per hour plugged in) as well as a NEMA 14-50 adapter (standard oven/Garage EV charging outlet, four prong 240v 32amp charging, ~21 miles of range per hour plugged in)

  • Will you be there to meet me at pick up and drop off?

I prefer to meet everyone in person, shake hands and get to know each othera but, but this can be difficult with busy schedules. Luckily the app makes it easy for me to manage the car remotely, and I'm always available for calls and texts day and night (although I do like to sleep and I try to make sure you have everything needed to avoid 3am calls!). The key to this working and for me to keep my prices low hinges on you taking good care of the car, returning it clean and undamaged inside and out. I don't mind a few bugs on the bumper, but if you drive it long distances or on dirt roads, I really appreciate you washing it before returning it, same with the interior, clean and vacuum any messes. You can also select the trip cleaning for a fee and I can take care of that, although it's still not a free pass to leave any big messes or damage the vehicle. Thank you for your help on this so I can have the car ready for the next customer ASAP

  • Can I leave my car at the pickup location?

Your best bet is to park your car somewhere safe and lyft/Uber/bird/lime/run/walk to the Google maps pin that I will text you. The pickup location varies a bit, and I can't make any guarantees for parking your vehicle if you are leaving it. There is a parking lot on the east side of the public safety building that doesn't have any signs and is probably ok for short term parking, but it's at your own risk.

  • How will I find the car?

Text me an hour or so before pickup and I will reply with a Google Maps pin at the precise location of the car an hour or so before pickup. I recommend having the Google Maps app downloaded and ready for use, and I recommend using the satellite imagery view so that you can see buildings, parking lots & spots, etc to get your landmarks. I will typically be able to place the pin on the exact parking spot where the vehicle is located, so if you're not exactly on top of it, keep trying until you are! Please be prepared to use this to locate the car, they are ubiquitous and highly effective, but it does involve a bit of effort on your part :).

  • What happens if I damage it or get in an accident?

First, make sure everyone is ok, call 911 if anyone is injured or you need police. Second, exchange insurance information with the other driver, and send it to me at awake1563@gmail.com, along with any pictures you can get of the damage on both vehicles. Also upload these to Turo from your end as well and file a report with them if possible. Third, file a police report, this can usually be done by calling the non emergency police dispatch of whatever city you are in (Google it!) They will either start the report over the phone, or refer you to their online report system. This part is crucial for me to get reimbursement from Turo and I really appreciate you taking the time to file a report with as much info as you can provide, and send me the police report # via email or text. Lastly, (but First actually) plentiful (20ish) high quality pre trip photos are essential to protect us both, and to get Turo to cover any damage. The car is fully covered through the app, so there's no reason to try to hide and damage, we just need to document what occurred, and when it occurred. Thanks for your help with this!

  • How do I pick the best Supercharger stall? How is this car for long road trips

Lots of great info on Optimizing your supercharging here: https://teslatap.com/articles/supercharger-superguide/. The basic Autopilot is amazing for road trips, even though it doesn't have the auto lane change or other "enhanced" or FSD features. One drawback of this car for long road trips is that it has a medium sized battery, which can not only limit your range, but also your supercharching speeds. If you want the overall shortest road trip time, you'll need one of the new Long Range Model S's with the"Raven" motor, it has the biggest battery (100kwh), longest range (370mi) which will get you across the country the fastest. Otherwise, if you don't mind being patient while it's charging, this mid range model 3 does just fine.

  • Can I pick the car up early? Drop it off late?

The insurance for the vehicle is based on the times that you pick for the rental period, so I like to stick to those pretty tight, make sure to give yourself time on either end for that reason. If you're driving it outside those times and something happens, it's not covered by insurance which is bad for both of us. The easy solution is to submit a trip change request from your end-most of the time, slight changes are free and all i have to do is approve the change. The only times this isn't allowed is when there another rental before or after yours, or if the car is blocked out for some reason. When making changes, please keep in mind that sometimes it places rentals within an hour of each other, so leave yourself time to clean the car and charge it because it won't give me enough time to do so. Thanks again for your help with this!

All in all, the most amazing car rental I've ever done. Josh was terrific in all cases, no complaints from me. Car itself is truly amazing and actually far superior to what I expected. Unfortunately, this is going to cost me $40K, because it was so amazing I feel the need to get one of these. Josh is a genuine Tesla ambassador. As Mathew notes above- customer service is easy when things go smoothly, the real test is when problems arise. The day before my rental Josh pinged me to let me know the car was not going to be available, because the front tires were too worn. With some good communication and effort on his part, he rounded up some tires and got it back in order in time for my trip. That is really going the extra mile, and saved all kinds of trip changes for me. Pickup and return was a bit confusing to me as a first time Turo user, but Josh stepped up and helped me on the return as well. You can't go wrong here with Josh and this car. 5 thumbs up.

Josh’s Tesla was amazing. It drove just as you expected it to -like an airplane! Im so impressed with how smooth and smart the car really is. The trip experience in general was very smooth and I’m thankful to Josh for always being available to answer my questions. He was very flexible during some pick up issues that arose. He took the time to explain every detail of the car to me, making me feel confident when taking off in the Tesla! Will definitely rent again!
