Description

Like-new 2015 Subaru WRX STi w/ 6 speed manual gearbox. Must know how to drive manual before booking. This is a stage 2 STI so its especially important that a couple rules are followed for keeping it running reliably and not damaging the engine: 1. When cold, the car should idle for around a minute before driving away. 2. After driving away, the engine oil needs to come to temperature before hard driving. This takes about 5 min or so of normal driving. 3. The engine hates being lugged-don't floor it below 3,500 rpm and let it cruise around 3,000 rpm or higher. The engine is not designed for turbo boost below 3,000 rpm. 4. The engine is tuned for 93 octane/Premium/Super/Super Plus only. If you have to refill, be sure only 93 goes in. All receipts must be kept in the glove compartment as proof. You will receive washed and vacuumed vehicle at the beginning of the trip, with a full tank of gas, please return it the way it was. No pets. No food or any beverages inside of the vehicle (except water), any stains will result in the deep cleaning fee. If you don't have time to refill or wash it, there will be an additional charge for car wash/missing gas. The vehicle will be photographed before/after each trip. Any noticeable scrapes or dents will incur a repair fee. No smoking/marijuana/fragrance/air fresheners, any lingering smell will be reported to Turo and charged up to $250.

Guidelines

1. The engine likes a few minutes of idle or slow driving before high RPMs. 2. The engine does like higher revs and hates lugging. Ideal cruising RPM is 2500-3500. When in doubt, let it rev! 3. Its expected that the car will be dropped off as it was picked up, save for any extras purchased. 4. Sorry, I can’t teach you how to drive stick! 5. This is my baby, have fun but treat her right!

Faqs

  • What kind of fuel does it need?

Premium 93 octane, 91 octane at a minimum.

  • What RPM should I shift at?

This car likes to run to 3000 rpm and above before shifting. It hates lugging!

Great car and owner. Wanted to drive one of these for a long time and it did not disappoint. Comfortable seats, large trunk, plenty of power, and great stock suspension. Danny was very accommodating as well to my last minute rental and answered questions right away. Two thumbs up.

Danny was quite flexible and friendly. A pleasure to work with. I would rent from him again, even if it wasn't a Subaru. Just so everyone out there on the internet doesn't think I'm a Subaru fanboi/Colin McCrae Fanboi, it'll be 6 positives and 2 negatives. What I loved: The Turbo. This car is all about that turbo and makes no attempt to hide it or make the turbo behave like a N/A engine. It's a lot of fun and neat to listen to. I make sounds along with the turbo and it's all smiles. The Traction. On a dry, clean day, this has astounding corner exit traction. Hit apex, go WOT, the car does not get upset, it does not yaw, it does not buck, it simply goes. The Wing. It has a ridiculous stupid wing and I love it. My DD just has 2 puny little flaps over the trunk in comparison :( 4 doors and a big trunk. I forgot how convenient having space in a car is for people and things. I'll miss it. Visibility. Subaru has bucked the trend of huge A and C pillars. You can see and predict everything and place the car well. Seat Heaters - Best in the car industry. Takes them all of 5 seconds to kick in. I rented this in winter and my own car's seat heaters are puny and incompetent in comparison Hates: Fuel Economy - It's an STI, so it's not going to get great MPGS. Actual fuel gallons in/actual miles driven - it gets 1 MPG less than my 600HP daily driver that has twice as many cylinders. Likely due to the fact that the pistons lay on the cylinder wall and have to shear through oil which has a cavitation and friction loss. 245 section summer tires in winter. 4WD is great at corner exit, but tire choice wins races. I had to tip toe around traction in 25 degree weather. They were rock solid. Current tires are 200 treadwear Traction A and aren't well suited to full tilt boogie in winter. Okay now off to watch some Colin McRae videos.
