If you read the way they respond to any review that is less than 5 stars, it will tell you all you need to know about renting and interacting with Mackenzie. Based on previous responses to reviews and the way they spoke to me, I’m positive they will retaliate with a 1 star review, blame me for all the problems, and invent excuses to explain away the poor quality of their vehicle. We rented the 2011 Camry for 6 days. The pickup process was seamless, they left the car in short term parking and it was easy to find. When inspecting the outside of the car for the check in process, we noted some cosmetic damage but being an older car, that wasn’t a huge deal. The tires were almost bald (have you ever done the penny trick? Lincoln’s head was clearly visible indicating the tread was not sufficient). Inside the car, it smelled like stale cigarettes (which if you read reviews, several people have noted bad smells in their cars and MacKenzie tries to blame it on the renter) and was dirty. There was melted chocolate (?) in the cup holder/covering the 12V charger and the dashboard was covered in dust so the car clearly had not been cleaned and disinfected prior to renting it to us, which Mackenzie certified through the app that it had been done. We also found a black high heel shoe in the trunk, so again, the car was not cleaned from the previous renter. Before we even left the parking lot of the airport, I messaged Mackenzie through the app to let her know our concerns as I was disappointed in the condition that we received and sent pictures of the tires and the dirty interior. She immediately responded that they have never had a complaint on this car and that I was more than welcome to return it. Problem was that it was Thanksgiving morning at 7 AM. I didn’t have the option to return the car and then not have a way to drive to my destination. They didn’t offer for me to switch out for a different car, just return the one I rented. Once we started driving on 95, the steering wheel started to shake any time we reached 60 mph, I noticed that the car should have been serviced 1200 miles ago according to the service sticker in the windshield, and the car didn’t have a full tank of gas. We also noted that the blinkers didn’t work in the front, so I messaged Mackenzie again. I was immediately attacked for complaining (again, read the public responses to previous reviews and it will show you exactly how they speak to people) and barraged with messages and pictures of their trip stats, saying over and over again they don’t get negative reviews. Here’s the thing though, I never once asked for a refund. I never brought up money. I repeatedly stated that I was simply trying to make them aware of potential safety concerns so that they could be addressed before the next person gets the car. Mackenzie is rude, disrespectful, and not appreciative of any feedback that isn’t glowing. If you rent from her, you’ve been warned.
Thanks for the warning. I'm just glad to get reviews like this once in awhile, the show that they're real.
