The car itself? Smooth, stylish, and drove like a dream. Basically the Beyoncé of vehicles. But getting to it? That was an episode of Survivor: Rental Car Edition. There were no instructions on how to get into the car. No hey, the keys are in the car. Nothing. None. I called multiple times, knocked on the door. Rang the doorbell, probably enough to qualify as a stalker. Eventually, I gave up on human contact and just started trying door handles like a very polite car thief. Boom, it was open. It was mine. Fifteen minutes past my reservation, but hey, grand theft auto vibes were kicking in. The host? Completely off the grid. I could’ve driven to Canada and back and they wouldn’t have noticed. Not a single message the whole time. Also, the outside of the car looked like it had just finished running the mud gauntlet on American Ninja Warrior. I wasn’t sure if I rented a car or adopted it from a construction site. But hey, it ran great. So if you don’t mind feeling like a detective with a dirty getaway car, this one’s for you.
