The 2014 Nissan Versa I rented was okay at best. I was getting onto the freeway and the transmission would not shift into overdrive and was hovering around 4500 RPMs to go 65 MPH. It finally shifted about a minute later and was okay until I got off the freeway. Once I got into the city traffic, the transmission started shifting hard and would be jerky. I contacted the host as soon as I got to my destination and didn’t get a response until about an hour and a half later. He told me he would look into it and didn’t hear from him until the next morning when I was on the phone with Turo support. At that time, he asked for an hour to look for a replacement but didn’t end up having a vehicle to swap out for me. After I returned the vehicle, Turo support was supposed to help be find a replacement vehicle and it was essentially them looking for vehicles that were available in the area but pushed for the higher rental price. I wasn’t trying to pay more than double when I had initially booked a rental for and lost several hours of my trip because of dealing this situation. The best vehicle that could be found was in the same price range but wouldn’t be available for several hours so I would’ve been stuck at the drop off location and waste even more time. Until it was demanded for, Turo did nothing to remedy the inconvenience but did eventually get authorization to give me some additional credits to rent a vehicle that was available sooner. By that time, I was too frustrated to want to deal with any more of this nonsense and just rented a vehicle elsewhere. I have rented from Turo before and this is the complete opposite of the previous experience.
