Description

Meet the Midnight Surfer, a comfortable, sleek Tesla Model S located in Langley on Whidbey Island. This is an ideal car for Whidbey Island adventures, and possibly suited for travel beyond the island - please check with me on your plans to ensure that this car will suit your rental needs - there are some things to keep in mind if you are unfamiliar with driving a Tesla and you want to travel beyond Whidbey. You can get about 200 miles out of a full battery, depending on terrain and what systems are in use such as AC or heat. You can add delivery to the Clinton ferry terminal - if you are coming from off island without a car, that's great because you don't have to wait for the car traffic, you can just walk on. Experience the quiet drive, performance, handling, and fun features of this car: -autopilot, -touchscreen, -navigation, -retractable door handles, -voice activated commands, -panoramic sunroof, and -games. Guests at the Saratoga Inn and Inn at Langley have free access to Tesla charging. There are other stations on the island for charging as well, and it can be plugged into a wall outlet, but if plugged in overnight the battery increase will be nominal. Courteous, conscientious, Tesla-curious drivers welcome.

This exclusive car has additional safety checks for guests under 30.

Parking details

You can access the park & ride using the free island transit bus from the ferry and other parts of the island. If you are coming from SeaTac, public transit on weekday afternoons can get you from the airport to downtown on the light rail, and then take the train to the ferry in Mukilteo. I can pick you up at the ferry terminal in Clinton, or you can take the free island bus to the Park & Ride. If you come from Paine Field, there is a bus to the ferry, but a ride share will be a faster option to get to the Mukilteo terminal.

Guidelines

No smoking - Turo's policy on the matter is clear. Smoking in a vehicle is grounds to be banned from using the platform in the future. And damage from smoking in the car will be the responsibility of the guest. Please let me know if anything comes up with the car.

Faqs

  • Can the car drive itself?

This car does have autopilot, but you must remain focused on the road at all times as the system is not completely autonomous. It works best on highways where lanes are clearly marked. It won't stop at stop signs or red lights, but it will track how far away it is from the car ahead of it. You can set it to keep a distance of 1 - 7 car lengths from the car in front of you. Unless there is a divider between you and oncoming traffic, it will be limited to going 5 MPH above the speed limit on autopilot.

  • Do I need to pay to charge the car?

This car comes with free supercharging - this means that if you go to a Tesla supercharger, charging the car is free. There is a slower charger at Greenbank Farm which is free and solar powered. You can enjoy the shops and park while plugged in. There are a few other places where you can charge the car. I will update the listing with their details as I get to understand them better.

  • How far can I go on a full battery with the Midnight Surfer?

Depending on terrain and system use, the car will go about 200 miles, less if you are using a lot of heat or AC, and driving up a lot of hills. You can get more if you are driving down a lot of hills with regen.
