This car is fast and fun, and Kauai’s power grid is half powered by renewable energy including solar, hydropower, and biomass. The 250-mile range at 90% is more than enough to travel the entire island, including trips up Waimea Canyon or to the end of the road on the North Shore. If you are concerned about charging an electric car on Kaua’i, note that we will provide tips for utilizing the charging opportunities throughout the island, and the maximum refueling charge you will pay is $20 as long as the car is returned with at least 54 miles of range. Details in the FAQ. Although you can book this car if staying anywhere on Kaua’i, our vehicles are great for visitors who are staying in Poipu -- Kauai's largest resort area. Don't bother dealing with a rental car at the airport: Take a shuttle, Lyft/Uber, or taxi between the airport and your lodging on the south side, and book our car for the days you need it. When making your reservation, select one of the Poipu area resorts or select "guest's location" and enter your rental house or condo address, anywhere within the Poipu or Koloa area. For a small $20 delivery fee you'll have the car at your doorstep. I can also deliver the car to the Lihue Airport or the Royal Sonesta / Marriott Vacation Club in Lihue for a $60 fee, but see the information below about airport delivery. Airport Delivery Information: Turo operates a shuttle from Lihue Airport to a remote parking lot about 10 minutes away (near Target, Costco, and other shopping options). I will either meet you at the parking lot for check-in and to give you a tutorial on driving the Tesla in person, or unlock the car remotely for you and do a remote tutorial. It is a great car for an individual, couple, or family with one child, but would also work for a family of four with carry-on luggage or no more than one large checked bag . Or if you opt to have the car delivered to you at a resort or house in Poipu (or pick it up at my house), you won't have to worry about luggage and can just enjoy the car for your day trips.
