Our original rental with David fell through due to a side mirror being knocked off a day before our trip. He quickly gave us this Civic instead, which we were very grateful for! As I stepped off of the plane, however, I received a message David had sent a few hours prior (while we were on our flight) alerting us that the car had been smoked in by the previous Turo user and that the windows had been left down to try to air it out and that an air freshener had been added. When I asked if a discount would be applied for the inconvenience, he said no and that I could find another car to rent if it would be a problem. We were on a strict schedule and telling me that I could find a new car while I was waiting for the shuttle to take me to this specific car was not possible or helpful. The car drove well. The smell, however, was absolutely terrible and we were unable to leave any items in the car due to them smelling like smoke. My friend that I was traveling with has asthma and we ended up having to take an Uber one day instead of using the car because the smell was so bad when the temperature was hot. We couldn’t drive anywhere without the windows down, so thankfully it didn’t rain during our trip. All in all, I am incredibly disappointed with David’s handling of this rental. While the smoking was not his fault, he had a responsibility to make the situation right. Telling me to find another rental and not offering some sort of discount for the huge inconvenience of something like a car that smells so strongly of smoke was very upsetting. I’m disappointed that I had to pay full price for a rental that was frustrating.

The car was great and clean! The pickup at Park&Zoom was super convenient and easy! I would definitely rent from David again.

David gave good instructions, car was ready when I arrived. It did have a little strong odor in it but nothing to fuss about. Definitely would book with David again.

Overall the rental worked out fine. David promptly responded to all my questions prior to and throughout the trip. The car worked out fine as well for the most part. There were only two areas concern. I based my rental on cost. I was a bit surprised that I had to pay to get the car out of a parking garage. This was a fee I did not expect to pay when booking the rental. I believe it should tell you in the listing, you are subject to a fee up to xxx dollars when picking up at the airport. This way, I can factor that into the cost of the rental. I was not satisfied with the explanation provided. Also, the tire pressure light came on during the trip. One of the tires was in fact low and it could have been a bigger issue. Just adding air did not make it go away. I’m not from the area so having to spend a couple of hours stressed in an area I’m not familiar with wasn’t much fun.
