Guidelines

Road to Hana: Please note that the 2017 BMW M2 is not permitted on the back side of the Road to Hana due to road conditions. The back side of the road is full of potholes, which can easily damage the vehicle due to its low ride height. (Plus it's not a super pleasant experience with the stiff sports suspension.) Please do yourself (and me) a favor and do not attempt to drive the back side of the Road to Hana in this vehicle. However, you can still enjoy the scenic beauty of the area by driving on the front side of the Road to Hana up to the Seven Sacred Pools/Pipiwai Trail or exploring other parts of Maui! Please drive responsibly to ensure your safety and to help me keep my BMW in excellent condition for myself and future guests to enjoy! Housekeeping: To help maintain the cleanliness of the M2 for future guests, I kindly request that you try to minimize sand and excessive sunscreen application before entering the vehicle. Sand can easily accumulate and damage the car's interior, while sunscreen can leave stains on the leather which are very difficult to remove. Please utilize beach showers where available, and feel free to use the included towels to brush off dry sand and wipe off excessive sunscreen. They are high quality Turkish towels and the sand will come right off with a couple of good shakes. As a bonus, they are very nice for enjoying an afternoon of lounging at the beach! Throwing one down on the seat if you are still a bit damp from the beach to help to protect the leather. I include them at no additional cost for you to use while you are here visiting. If you like the towels and would like take them home to keep, I offer it as an extra add-on for the trip! Before returning the car, please remove any trash or debris and wipe down any surfaces that may have become soiled during your rental period. By doing so, you'll help me provide the best possible experience for all guests. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in keeping the 2017 BMW M2 in pristine condition for future renters to enjoy!

FAQs

  • What should I know about the Road to Hana?

Here are a few helpful tips when planning an adventure out to Hana side of the island: Plan ahead and leave early: Before setting out on the Road to Hana, make sure to plan your route and itinerary. The road is narrow, winding, and can be slow-going, so it's important to take your time and prioritize the sights and activities that are most important to you. Leave early in the day to avoid traffic and be sure to pack some snacks and water, as there are limited food and drink options along the way. Drive with caution: The Road to Hana is a beautiful, but challenging drive. It's important to drive cautiously and be prepared for narrow roads, sharp turns, and occasional one-lane bridges. Also, be sure to pull over to let faster traffic pass when possible, and to use pull-outs to take in the views or stop for photos. Explore the waterfalls and beaches: The Road to Hana is famous for its waterfalls and beaches, so be sure to take the time to explore some of the stunning natural features along the way. Some popular spots include the Twin Falls, Wailua Falls, and Hamoa Beach. Take care not to park in areas where "No Parking" signs are present, these are frequently ticketed! Respect the land and culture: As you explore the Road to Hana, it's important to be respectful of the land and culture of Maui. Be sure to stay on designated trails and areas, dispose of trash properly, and avoid disturbing wildlife or cultural sites.

  • What do I need to know about visiting Haleakala National Park?

Experiencing sunrise at Haleakala is a popular and unforgettable activity on Maui. Here are some tips to make the most of your sunrise experience: Plan ahead: Be sure to make a reservation for the sunrise viewing at Haleakala National Park, as it's required for all visitors who wish to experience the sunrise. Make your reservation in advance, as spots fill up quickly. Additionally, be sure to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately for the chilly temperatures at the summit. Entry to the park is $30 per vehicle. If you have a valid Annual Parks Pass or Tri-Park Hawaii Pass, you can show your pass to the ranger and they will let you through. Arrive early: Allow plenty of time to drive to the summit of Haleakala and arrive at the viewing area well before sunrise. The park gates open at 3:00 am, and it's recommended that you arrive at least an hour before sunrise. Bring supplies: It's important to bring warm clothing, blankets, and a hot beverage, as temperatures can drop to near-freezing levels at the summit. Also, be sure to bring a camera or smartphone to capture the breathtaking sunrise. Follow the rules: Respect the park and its rules by staying on designated trails and areas, disposing of trash properly, and avoiding loud noises or disturbances during the sunrise viewing. Enjoy the moment: Take a moment to appreciate the awe-inspiring beauty of the sunrise over Haleakala. Take in the stunning colors of the sky, the quietness of the surroundings, and the sense of peace that comes with experiencing such a special moment. Experiencing sunrise at Haleakala is a popular activity, so be sure to plan ahead and be respectful of other visitors. Traffic can get quite congested at time, so be courteous and use the pullouts for faster moving vehicles if you are taking your time. If you can't make it up for sunrise, sunset is just as spectacular! Stick around for a while if the skies are clear and take in the stars and Milky Way for one of my favorite views on Maui!
