Max is about 400 miles, usually about 350-396 miles.
Run down battery
At anytime if you run the battery less then 5 % there will be a charge of $300.00 for putting irresponsible stress on the battery that will reduce its life. Please use trip planner to see if you make it back or stop at the charger there are plenty around the island and no reason to run out of energy?
Super charger?
In Hawaii there is no Tesla Super Charger, but there is a solution with CCS adaptor you can charge really fast. 1. Start with Shell app "Start Charging" 2. Plugin the adaptor 3. Plug in the Tesla
Which apps are required for charging?
Most public level 2 chargers are charge point, Target FREE first 2 hours (add 20-24 miles) All dc fast chargers are ShellRecharge/HELCO (.50-.61 c/kWatt) There are a handful of op connect FREE chargers (Kaiser locations and Safeway Kona) FREE And one SemaConnect station (Costco .30 c/kWatt)
Mauna Kea Summit
No, This car is too low to the ground, even though you can raise the suspension it will lower it self after 15 mph. You can go up to the visitor center and stay on paved road, I have other vehicles that can go all the way up to telescopes.
Can you make it from Hilo to Kona and back on a single charge?
Yes you can, but not without special consideration :) Even in a typical gas car you want to make this trip starting with a full charge, and drive reasonable and you will make it back, it’s much less stressful if you can grab some free energy at Target or at one of the many charging locations near your destination.. an hour on a public level 2 charger or 15 minutes on a dc with CCS adaptor, fast charger should take away all range anxiety. I did my first trip and add 11 miles at Target and came home with 67 miles of battery. The car will get back a lot of energy on the way down the hill.
