I had this car for nine days and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. The car was great, in good condition and was super fun to drive while spending time on the island. I conveniently picked it up and dropped it off as instructed at the airport garage. When I parked and left the car upon departure it was in the same condition as when I originally had picked it up. I had had no issues whatsoever for the duration of my rental and there was no new damage to the car whatsoever. However, unfortunately the next day, back in California, I was contacted by the owner who sent me pictures of the car which showed scratches to the entire driver side consistent with having been severely keyed, asking me if I had any idea what had happened. I told him that by the time I parked and left the car as instructed in the airport garage there was no new damage to the car. Interestingly the pictures of the car with the damage were taken while it was already dark outside. I parked the car around noon, and the owner said he was going to pick it up shortly after I had parked it. A few days forward he made it clear that he expected me to pay for the damage. The owner stated that he wanted to sort things out directly with me, versus through Turo ( an option owners can choose, however Turo has been notified by both sides about the incident). Last I heard from the owner was that he was going to get the damage appraised expecting me to pay for the repair. Understandably I had more questions as to when and where he first discovered those scratches as they didn’t exist by the time I dropped off the car. It’s been five days and he has not responded. All of this is rather unfortunate. I dropped off his car in original condition. I don’t know what happened, all I know is that the damage wasn’t there when I dropped off the car. It’s unfortunate in so many ways, but most of all that, since arriving back home, this has overshadowed the memory of an otherwise perfect vacation. The fact that the owner, after making it clear that he expects me to pay for this doesn’t get back to me once I have further questions makes it even worse. This is the first negative review I’ve ever written in my entire life. Again, I don’t know what happened or when this car was keyed. I’m just writing this so no one else has to go through a similar experience. Beware..
