Faqs

  • FAQ #1 - Can I get the car delivered to a home/hotel then meet at the airport to return the car?

    • Yes - Select Extras 'One-way trip' when checking out then send me a message with delivery and return locations to confirm logistics.

  • FAQ #2 - Can I travel with this car over the border?

    • Canada - Yes! Front license plate is installed so there will be no issue with compliance.

  • FAQ #3 - What happens there is damage to an Alloygator (wheel protector)?

Please be extra careful of driving close to curbs. The car is wide so most drivers (including owners like us!) occasionally curb the wheels. • If the Alloygator can be smoothed out, there will be no charge. • If one has to be replaced entirely, the cost will be $120 which will be billed after the trip.

  • FAQ #4 - What happens if you receive parking fines, tickets, etc. during the duration of the rental?

Please let me know prior to getting a bill in the mail. These will billed after the trip (no mark-ups will be added as long as there are no late penalties due to not letting me know).

  • FAQ #5 - Do I have to return the car clean?

    • Interior - Yes, treat as if it is someone else's car :) • Exterior - No, unless you use a touchless carwash. PLEASE DO NOT run the car through a brush car wash as it may damage the paint. • NO Pets/Smoking/Vaping allowed in the car (this is a family vehicle - our child has asthma and will be impacted if there is any sign of smoke. • A $250 cleaning fee will be applied to your Turo reservation if there is any evidence of food/spills, pets or other foul smell detected upon return. • Please be careful with sharp objects that can scratch the interior. • Guest is financially responsible for any excessive wear and tear to the exterior or interior of the car during the rental period.

  • FAQ #6 - What should I know about charging the car?

    • The car will arrive with at least 200 miles of charge. • You are responsible for charging the car during your trip and returning it back with at least 30 miles of charge. Never let the battery drop lower than 30 miles. It WILL have to be towed if it runs out of battery! • Free Supercharging/Destination charging stations can be found via the car screen. You can also find locations at: https://www.tesla.com/supercharger which are all around Seattle, up and down the coast, in the mountains and throughout WA and OR. • There are three things you should know: charging times, charger types, and battery health tips. • Charging electric cars can take a long time. Most standard chargers replenish 20-25 miles of driving range per hour. So, if you need to add 200 miles of charge for the next day, you should do it overnight at a Destination charger because it'll take about 8 hours. Tesla Superchargers, on the other hand, can refill 50% of the battery in 30 minutes. If you're pressed for time and need to get battery range fast, the quickest way to refill the battery and avoid the fee is to go to a Supercharger. • Here is the secret trick to EV charging: charge whenever you park. If you do this, you’ll almost never have to worry about running out of battery life or having to stop somewhere to refuel. Most places in the Seattle area either have charging spots there or nearby. Get the Chargepoint app to find and use available charging stations and park at one wherever you go: grocery stores, shopping, eating out, etc. • 3rd Party charging stations require the adapter, Tesla Superchargers don’t. Those ones are found on the car’s GPS (red lightning bolts). If you need the home charger, it’s in the front trunk. Please return it there. There’s a $100 fee if lost. • Please also do not Supercharge the car frequently, and reserve that for when needing to fill up the battery when it is close to depleted or loading up before a long drive. The battery range is an estimate that depends on weather, roads (elevation) and driving style.

  • FAQ #7 - How do I operate the Tesla Model 3?

If not familiar with how to operate the Tesla Model 3, please review the following YouTube videos: • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xxCgtXEMVY&list=PLEox0nUMFPF7ZaNZvUa8h65wEBSGtUgmw Here are shortcuts to the tutorials that most people have questions about: • Autopilot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqmdc9YoFVY&list=PLEox0nUMFPF7ZaNZvUa8h65wEBSGtUgmw&index=5&t=0s • Navigate on Autopilot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkSw2SZQENU&list=PLEox0nUMFPF7ZaNZvUa8h65wEBSGtUgmw&index=10 • Charging: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR-EbAM5DcE&list=PLEox0nUMFPF7ZaNZvUa8h65wEBSGtUgmw&index=7 • AutoPark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06lMmRN4YvQ&list=PLEox0nUMFPF7ZaNZvUa8h65wEBSGtUgmw&index=6

  • FAQ #8 - What are the features of Autopilot/ Full Self-Driving?

    • Traffic-Aware Cruise Control: Matches the speed of your car to that of the surrounding traffic • Autosteer: Assists in steering within a clearly marked lane, and uses traffic-aware cruise control • Navigate on Autopilot (Beta): Actively guides your car from a highway’s on-ramp to off-ramp, including suggesting lane changes, navigating interchanges, automatically engaging the turn signal and taking the correct exit • Auto Lane Change: Assists in moving to an adjacent lane on the highway when Autosteer is engaged • Autopark: Helps automatically parallel or perpendicular park your car, with a single touch • Summon: Moves your car in and out of a tight space using the mobile app or key • Smart Summon: Your car will navigate more complex environments and parking spaces, maneuvering around objects as necessary to come find you in a parking lot. • How do I turn on Autopilot? Push down twice on the shifting stick towards the Drive position when you see a steering wheel logo on the screen. Here is a short video clip from Tesla to better understand: https://www.tesla.com/support/model-3-videos#enhanced-autopilot. IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: The "Autopilot" and "Full Self-Driving" features of the car do not mean that the car will drive on its own...yet. Tesla is working on that but as of right now, these are safety and convenience features meant to ASSIST the driver, not take over. They do not give the driver the ability to text while driving, drink and drive, or otherwise not be alert and control the car. These features will NOT work at red lights or stop signs as of this writing. Please only use Autopilot on the freeway and keep your hands on the wheel. Please obey all traffic and safety laws when using Autopilot, and be prepared to take over the vehicle at a moment's notice. On the page with the video from Tesla, you will also find other short video clips on how to use various features of the Model 3. Please be sure you watch these before your rental not only for your safety, but to truly enjoy the Tesla Model 3 experience! Once you're familiar with how the car works, it's really, really cool and fun to drive.
