Description

A low-mileage electric-gas hybrid Chevrolet Volt with 360 miles of range (40 electric & 320 gas). If gas is needed, Premium (91-94 grade)—not Plus—is required so receipts are mandatory. The Volt requires a Level 1 charger and there are numerous 240v charging stations in Eugene (and Oregon) that can be found using the PlugShare app. The original 120v charging cord can be provided for longer rentals (3+ days). See the Q&A for more details.

Parking details

The car is parked out in front of the house (which is orange, you can't miss it), at the left corner of the property. It should be parked in the spot on the right (where the charger is) when it is returned.

Guidelines

Premium (91-94 grade) gasoline (not “Plus”) must be used to fill up the tank and ALL gas receipts are mandatory. Please see Pickup and Drop-off Instructions for more info. Garbage and/or excessive amounts of sand/dirt are expected to be cleaned out prior to drop-off. If you are traveling with a pet, you must use covers for the seat(s) on which they will be laying. The seats fold down if a larger area is needed.

Faqs

  • How do I get into the car if I’m picking it up myself?

The car has a remote lock/unlock feature so I can unlock the car for you when you arrive. Just send me a message at least an hour before your expected arrival time. The key will be inside in the center console (on top of the dash).

  • Can I charge the vehicle during my rental?

Yes, of course. The Volt is compatible with Level 1 chargers. There are numerous 240v charging stations (both free and paid) throughout Oregon that can be found using an app called PlugShare. If you rent the car for 3+ days and would like to use the original 120v charge cable, I can put it in the car for you but you must make the request in advance. Note that it takes about 6-7 hours to charge the battery to full.

  • How do I add gas and/or charge the car?

The gas tank is on the passenger-side (toward the back) and the charge port is on the driver-side (toward the front). There is one button to unlock the charge door and a second button to unlock the gas door. Both buttons are located toward the front of the driver-side door. NOTE: The Volt engine REQUIRES Premium (91-94 grade) gas (not “Plus”). Please save ALL gas receipts

  • How do I use the magnetized phone holder (Clutch-It)?

There is a spare metal disc in a white envelope (stuck to the Clutch-It base). Please DO NOT use the adhesive patch. Simply insert the thin metal disc in between your phone case and the phone itself; or, if you have a multi-layered case, between the outermost layers of the case itself. PLEASE REMEMBER to remove the metal disc from your phone/case and place it in the white envelope upon returning the vehicle. If your phone case is magnetized it may stick to the Clutch-It base on its own. If you do not have a case, unfortunately you cannot use the Clutch-It phone holder.

Chevy Volt was nice vehicle. Alignment was off and it drifted to the right on the highway. He promised to fix this immediately. Some difficulty in basic communications, but I chalk it up to style differences. Definitely worth renting.
