Guidelines

Smoke free vehicle. No smoking of any kind is allowed. Please be considerate of other renters. No pets of any kind are allowed. The vehicle cannot travel into Mexico or Canada. The speed limit mode will be activated, so top speed will be restricted to 90mph. Charging: * Any supercharging fee is passed on and payable by the renter, as there is no free supercharging on the Model 3. The renter will also need to pay $0.25 per 1% battery used from original charge level. For example, if original charge level is 100% and car is returned with 20% battery left, then renter will need to pay $20 on top of any supercharger fees. No drag racing or hard accelerations/decelerations. If you lose/damage key card, then replacement fee is $50. Please notify me right away, so I can order replacement right away.

Faqs

  • What are Supercharger Idle fees?

All Teslas can incur idle fees that start after a 5 minute grace period when charging at a Supercharger is completed. For every additional minute a car remains connected to the Supercharger while in this "idle" state it will incur a $0.40/min idle fee. If the Supercharger is 50% occupied: $0.50/minute idle fee. If the Supercharger is 100% occupied: $1.00/minute idle fee. These are Tesla's rates and any charges will be passed on to you.

  • Is Tesla model 3 standard range good enough for long road trip?

If you drive speed limit and use limited climate control, my car gets around 2 miles per 1% battery. Thus, you only get around 160 miles of range if you charge to 100%, since it is not recommended to drop below 20%. Thus, if you want flexibility on the route you take on a long road trip, it is NOT a good idea to rent my car. I had a customer who decided to not follow my precise charging instructions on a long road trip, and the car almost ran out of battery in the middle of nowhere, which is of course very dangerous. Thus, please have a thorough discussion with me before renting my car for long road trips.

  • Do I have to charge at Tesla chargers only or can I also charge at ChargePoint charging stations?

Most renters prefer to just use Tesla chargers only. If you want to also use ChargePoint charging stations, you MUST ask me for the adapter when you pick up the car. I do not leave the adapter in the car. If the adapter is damaged or lost, you will be responsible for paying for a replacement.

  • How do I pay for the supercharging fees?

Supercharging fees are automatically charged to my credit card. Every time after you charge, I will text you photo of all charging. We will settle up at end of rental.

  • Do I need a charged up working smartphone to pick up the car?

Yes, since the turo app is necessary for picking up the car. I had a renter whose phone died before pickup. He was very lucky that I went out to the meeting spot to look for him. I literally saw him seconds before Turo was about to cancel the trip and charge him a no show fee. Please bring a charged up working smartphone to pick up the car.

No charging adapter provided for a 4 hour drive that ended up turning into an 8 hour trip due to this.

Chi-Sun's response

That is a complete exaggeration. You only needed the adapter once, and that was the day before the return trip. You were the first renter out of 29 that ever needed the adapter. If you planned to need the adapter, simply ask for it when picking up the car. Leave an accurate review. You failed to mention that you picked up and returned the car over 2 hours late, drove without a license, skipped out paying supercharging, initial charge and extra mileage fees. 1st out of 29 renters to not pay.
