Description

PLEASE READ: This car is an older car. The car is mechanically sound, but not new, and doesn’t display new-like interior or exterior. If you’re expecting a new-like car, please rent one of my newer ones, but know, newer cars price point is higher. For this car, it is reliable and affordable for all customers. PLEASE READ THIS AS WELL; do not select “Denver, CO 80249” location (your request will not be responded to if you do), as we do not have the car at that location. There is a delivery fee for this a car you are renting. To avoid Airport Fees, in additions to the delivery fee, select “Denver Airport Center” located at 7030 Tower Road, Denver CO Denver, instead of Denver International Airport since the airport requires that Turo collect and remit a fee for all airport reservations. Car will be located at airport shuttle lot for pickup and drop off. Please let me know ahead of time if you have any special request and I will do my best to accommodate if given notice ahead of time. Car is 4x4/AWD, so you won’t have issues if needed in snow. Car is expected to be ran through a wash, vacuumed, and in the same clean condition the guest received it in. One day rentals: we do not deliver for one day rentals. You will need to take an uber or Lyft to and from the car for your one day rental. We are a 15 min drive away from the airport. NO SMOKING (tobacco, marijuana, etc.),

I booked my whole trip out here only to find rental car places were sold out or charging 250+ a day. So I was happy to get a car for a decent deal. Not the newest or nicest but it got me from A to B with no problem. Nice there was a USB for my phone charger cord and aux cord for music. Cruise control didn't work but not a big deal to me. Some lights on the dash occasionally flicker, apparently from an electrical bug. But the car runs and drives fine. Brian had good communication and the process to pickup and drop-off the car at the airport parking was pretty easy and simple. I would book with Brian again.

This car is ideal for tripping around Denver. It was able to get me out of town but the engine struggled some on the big passes. Brian was very responsive, accommodating, and gave very clear and timely instructions.

Buyer beware. I rented the 2008 Subaru Legacy and Brian's vehicle was well below Turo's condition standards. Upon driving the vehicle we found the car had a very bad wheel bearing, shaked at higway speeds, tires worn down past the wear bars, check engine light was inoperable, airbag light came on intermittently, and there was a headlight out. After contacting Turo support I found out that I had to inquire with the host about a replacement vehicle. The host stated that the only other vehicle he had available was a 2020 GMC Terrain. A much larger vehicle and much less fuel efficient. The car also required premium gas only and to make things worse he would not extend to mileage to what I had originally purchased with the other vehicle.(The Subaru had 2500mi whereas the GMC only had 1100) This simply wasn't going to be affordable for me as we took an 1100mi trip up to Yellowstone, plus all of the other getting around. My only option was to rent another car from Fox rent a car. This was only after going to 3 different rental companies and ruining the first 2 nights of our stay in Denver and I was glad I did. After driving through the mountains I was so glad I got a replacement. The vehicle I had previously rented was simply not safe. I'm a mechanic so I'm not just guessing here. To make matters worse it's now been over a week since I've rented the car and after 3 hours of phone calls with agents and 3 chats with the Turo quality team I was still charged a parking fee and have still not received a full refund even though Turo Support told me I would receive a full refund upon returning the vehicle to the host. I've had great experiences with Turo before but this was horrible. I hope that the Turo team sees how there are little safeguards if any for the customer if they do receive an unsafe or inoperable vehicle and or would at the very least be willing to refund a customer that has gone through what I did. Very disappointing in the least.

I will NEVER use Turo again. This was horrible. There were hidden fees (an extra $40) that I was charged after the booking, which made this the same price as using a rental agency that would've given me a good car. Plus, I was constantly threatened with more fees if I didn't vacuum the car or show proof that it had been washed at a car wash, which cost even more and took up precious time on our trip. AND THEN THE CAR. There's clearly no minimum requirements. We were driving in a snow storm and worried for our lives in a car with no shocks and 220K miles it. My back hurt because there was no padding left in the seat and no shock absorption in the car. Further, we got the car because it had cruise control but that didn't work. When I asked the owner, I heard one response but was never told how to use it. We spent time googling it and I'm convinced it just doesn't work. When on the highway, the car was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk so what was supposed to be a nice 2hr drive in the mountains was just lonely and nerve-racking. I would've paid twice as much to avoid the sheer stress of all of the instructions, rules, and threats about having to pay more if I didn't do this or that. I'm sure Brian will mention that he sent an extensive email prior to the trip that suggested charges would be charged and reimbursed (but they are not) but still, by the time I got the email the prices on other vendors went up and canceling would've cost me a lot more. I wish I would have paid the difference! Altogether, I appreciate what everyone on Turo is trying to do. Unfortunately, there were no good vibes here in the spirit of sharing - just another flavor of capitalism. So, goodbye Turo!

Brian's response

Anne - I appreciate your feedback. Your request to book was on March 24th (trip 4/I4), and I disclosed the car is not new; you were booking a 13-year-old car. With it being 13-years old, the condition of the car is appropriate. I disclosed the $40 parking/shuttle agreement, which you agreed to. If you were not OK with the terms, I would be fine with that, and you could book with another host. That is the the beauty of Capitalism - not one tells you or forces you to choose my car. Take care.
