****STOP SCROLLING AND READ THIS REVIEW*** GUEST BEWARE. Don’t let the “4.8 Star” rating distract you from the subpar level of customer service this host provides, at best. After scrolling through some of the lower rated reviews, I can now relate to those guests, and I am left wondering how many of the 5 Star reviews were incentivized. If I could rate this trip a zero out of five stars I would, but Turo makes me choose at least one so here we go. I rented this vehicle for our trip in the Dallas area Thursday May 19th through Tuesday May 24th. We originally booked the 2014 BMW 6 Series a couple months ago. A couple days before our trip, our flights were changed by the airline, so I messaged Sean to request an extension just until later in the day of our trip ending, which he agreed to with no problem. The night before our trip, I received a message from Sean stating that he couldn’t find my reservation, which is where the fun begins. Three hours before our flight was to land at DFW, I received a phone call from the rental company headquarters that the car we originally booked (the 2014 6 Series) was unavailable due to “mechanical issues” (which also seems to be a trend with past trips, both cancelled by host and booked by guests) and asked if we would be ok with swapping to their 2018 BMW 4 Series, which we agreed to. When we arrived to where the vehicle was parked for pickup, we immediately started snapping pictures for the check in process. We couldn’t find the key where they said it would be (in the center console) and found a phone in between the passenger seat and the center console. I talked to Brandy at the office, and she said the phone probably belonged to her driver and to place it in the glovebox for the duration of the trip, and that the key would be in a lock box attached to one of the rotors. We left the airport and headed to our VRBO. Later that night (Thursday) while visiting a grocery store, the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) alerted us to an air issue in the back driver’s side tire. We found a gas station to air up and noticed that the back passenger tire had a PSI of 46, the front passenger was at 37, the front driver was at 32, and the rear driver was at 27. We filled the tire to 34 and headed back to our VRBO. After attending our scheduled event on Friday night, the TPM once again alerted us to a low tire, and the back driver’s tire was at 21 PSI (dangerously low to flat). We had to visit 6 separate stations to find an air hose that worked in order to safely return to our VRBO. I messaged Sean through Turo and let him know that we had to fill the tire twice and planned on using the vehicle the entire duration of our trip and asked for suggestions of what to do. He responded Saturday morning, stating that “during pre-check all tires were filled to 34-38 PSI per specs” (which clearly was not done as one tire was at 46PSI), and then suggested visiting a local tire shop in case we “caught a nail or something”. He then stated that the tire “were relatively new, maybe 30 days” and essentially started to blame us for the air leak. He offered to swap us to another vehicle that evening and said that it was the first time he had heard of the tire going low. I accepted the offer of the swap because we no longer felt safe operating the vehicle and he said he would let me know when a car became available. A couple hours later Sean asked if we had gotten the tire looked at, and I told him our schedule didn’t allow finding a tire shop, and worst-case scenario we would cancel the remainder of the trip and return the car the following morning. Saturday evening at about 6:10pm, I decided to modify the trip because we hadn’t heard back from Sean regarding a swap, so I put a modification request into the app for Sean to review. At 7:03 he messaged me “It’s not pressure. You must have run over something, in which case I’m not sure it’s fair to hand me back a bad tire and refund the remaining balance of trip. If it’s a wear and tear issue then absolutely you should get a full refund, but I really don’t think that is the case, the tires are basically new”. Over the course of the next 12 hours, I had asked Sean EIGHT times to accept my modification request and come pick up his car as we no longer felt safe driving the vehicle. Sean kept trying to blame me for the tire issues, showing no concern whatsoever, just placing his money over my safety. Upon reviewing my check-in pictures, I had notice that the picture I snapped with the tire in question clearly shows severe curb rub on both the tire and the rim, which had to have happened prior to me picking up the vehicle. I notified the host of this discovery Saturday night at 8:41pm. When I hadn’t heard back from Sean, and my modification request expired, I decided to get Turo involved on Sunday morning. Turo Emergency Roadside Assistance suggested getting the car towed due to the safety issue and receiving no contact from the host. At this point I still had not heard back from Sean regarding the vehicle at all. A tow was scheduled for Monday morning, and upon entering the VIN for towing information, the 2018 was a 2016, so we were overpaying anyway. After the vehicle had been towed, I was waiting to hear from Sean, assuming Turo had contacted him regarding the tow and the issues at hand. I’m now quite certain that Turo was also unable to get a response from the host regarding this issue. On Monday at 9:23pm, less than 24 hours before my trip was originally scheduled to end, Sean messaged me to “go ahead and request to modify, we can pick up tomorrow morning if you’d like to end now to save the day you can do that”. This was 2 DAYS AFTER I submitted my modification request. This host clearly only cares about money, money, money, and completely ignores the safety of guests renting their vehicles. If you want a nice car for less money, then this could be a good deal, but you get what you pay for in terms of customer service.

Sean Jason's response

Retaliation to the fullest. Simple truth. You got a nail in tire I asked you to please take the car to discount tire instead you refused then tow the car 65 miles away from us and refuse to tell anyone where or why you did this. I suspect you'll be removed after the antics. When you damage a car you must fix it. You don't demand refunds and refuse to address the issue. Also guest cracked windshield going off road. Terrible and I'd never rent to this person again for any amount
