Guidelines

The car will be given to you Clean and Charged with at least 200 Miles. We expect the car back with at least 100 Miles. We will charge $50 for return of less than 100 Miles (it takes time and efforts for the re-charge). We include a number of adapters that let you charge the car at public charging locations, such as EVgo and supermarkets. If you use Tesla SuperCharger - we will bill you (reimbursement) for each Tesla Supercharging, we will also bill you for reimbursement of Toll Charges, if you fail or forget to pay for the Illinois Tolls. If you receive a camera traffic citation - either for speeding or parking - and did not pay, we will bill you for the citation PLUS $100 administration cost. We please ask that you do not eat or smoke or drink in the car (except water). We will charge for de-fumigation if there is smoke smell in the car. Please be careful while driving with the wheels and windscreen, if you scrape or scratch the wheels (it is an upgraded wheel), we will need to bill you for the cost of repair or replacement. There is no need to wash the car, as we will take care of that upon your return. If, however, you do wish to have the car washed, please not that the car has a ceramic coating and paint protection film, and we ask that you 'hand-wash' the car - please do not run it through automatic carwash. Whilst we expect the normal dirt from a typical trip, we will have to bill you for the cost of cleaning and detailing the car (both inside and out) if it is returned excessively dirty (e.g. mud on the exterior, spills and stains on the interior, etc). Please respect the car so that others can have a great rental experience.

Faqs

  • How do I charge the car?

The car can be charged at any Tesla Supercharger or destination charger. The charging cables at these locations have a button on them that will open up the charging port. Then, you simply push in the charging and voila! I have also included an adapter in the trunk that fits onto any SAE J1772 charger, which you can find at all EVgo and ChargePoint locations, as well as in most grocery stores, gas stations, and other public charging locations, many of which are free to use. I include a ChargePoint card with the rental that will enable you to charge for free at any ChargePoint location. In addition, I have included a number of charging accessories that allow you charge directly from any standard 110-120V and 220-240V outlet.

  • How do I use Autopilot?

    Autopilot is disabled by default.

  • What happens if I run out of electricity?

The "trick" with EVs is to plan your trips to ensure you can get to and from your destination. Fortunately, the navigation system in all Teslas can calculate for you when you need to stop and charge ahead of time and automatically direct you to charging locations along your route to ensure you never run out of charge. Be aware, though, that the system assumes a certain driving style and calculates the range based on that. If you drive the car hard, for example, your actual range may be less, so please treat her with respect and avoid hard accelerations. Having said that, it is OK if you wish to do one test 0-60 run and experience what we Telsa owners call "The Tesla Smile". If, for whatever reason, you end up close to running out of juice before your destination or planned charging location, recall that the car runs off electricity and you can charge it from practically anywhere and anything that has power. Included in the rental are multiple adapters that will allow you plug the car into any standard household and outdoor (e.g. RV) outlets. You just need to get close enough to one.

  • What is the maximum speed?

The maximum speed is limited to 70 MPH.

This was our first time using the Turo app and Oluwaseyi was overall nice and approachable. He took time to show us how to use the car. The car itself was spotless clean and was a pleasure to drive it. Highly recommend it!
