It rides better than a gas, and if you are looking for an environmentally friendly luxury ride this is your opportunity. This vehicle has won numerous awards for its performance. Speed Limit Details: All Teslas are set to Chill Mode and an 85 MPH speed limit. Joulez does this because the acceleration on EVs can be difficult for a lot of drivers, and our worst accidents have all occurred with customers where the EV did not have this limitation. We can remove the Chill Mode restriction, but we do require a copy of additional insurance beyond Turo’s insurance and a liability waiver to be signed. The cars DO NOT come with charging cables. What additional support do you provide EV renters on Turo?
Joulez is an all EV Turo Host. We are conveniently located in the South Bronx by the Yankee Stadium and within the Queens Center Mall. There are two options to get you checked out: 1- Pick-up at one of our conveniently located garages 2- Curbside, an EV Expert will bring the car directly to you! A tutorial on the Electric Vehicle features can be provided with one of our EV Experts. Please make sure to ask us ahead of time if you need a tutorial as we need to make sure a team member is in the garage for your pickup. We can also do FaceTime or Zoom to walk you through the unique attributes of each EV.
What if I have an accident while renting the vehicle?
If you have any accident that causes damage to the vehicle while you are renting or the vehicle has been stolen please report it immediately to us. We need to make sure we file a claim immediately and ensure everyone is protected in the event of an accident.
Do you offer Delivery?
Yes, we offer vehicle delivery and pickup in the 5 boroughs of NYC, Westchester County, Nassau County in New York State along with Bergen County, Essex County, Hudson County, Union County and Passaic County in New Jersey. Please contact us for delivery and pickup rates. Delivery fees are billed through Turo.
Are tolls or EV charging included in my rental?
No. Tolls and EV charging are NOT included in the advertised rate or the included miles. Vehicle charging on third-party networks (Tesla, Electrify America and ChargePoint) that are automatically charged to Joulez corporate account are not covered and will be charged back after completion of your trip. There may be options to have Pre-Paid charging included as part of your rental on Turo instead of being charged after the rental for reimbursement. Tolls and EV Charging are billed via the Turo platform.
Can I smoke in the car?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! If there is any indication of cigarette or marijuana smoke in the vehicle, you will be assessed a $250 cleaning fee through Turo as per Turo's policies. https://help.turo.com/en_us/reporting-a-smoking-issue-H1B_r4gE9
Where can I pick-up/drop-off the vehicle?
We are located within the Queens Center Mall in Macy’s Indoor Parking lot on level G near Tesla SuperChargers.
What do you require before I start my Turo reservation?
(1) Copy of your Driver’s License or a selfie where you are holding your ID next to your face and where the ID is legible for ID verification prior to taking the vehicle. This can also be done at the garage if you are meeting a team member in person. This can be uploaded into the Trip Photos or texted to our mobile. (2) Copy of your insurance coverage summary or proof of credit card rental coverage if you declined coverage through Turo or if you would like Chill Mode to be removed from your rental (Teslas ONLY). If you have Turo coverage, then this step is not necessary. (3) E-mail address so we can send you a high-resolution version of the receipts for Tolls & SuperCharger charges.
Are we pet friendly?
Dogs are allowed in our rental vehicles, but you must select one of the Pet Fees that are optional for the rental. Guests must keep the dog crated at all times with a towel or barrier to protect the seats underneath. The rental car must be returned in clean condition and free of pet hair to avoid a Turo-imposed cleaning/detailing fee. Service dogs used by customers with disabilities are allowed in the vehicle without a carrier but do require a towel or pet protection cover for the seats.
What if I need to Change a Delivery or Pickup Location?
For Deliveries, changes are only allowed up to 3 Hours prior to a reservation's start or end time. If you require a change in the delivery location or the pickup/delivery time with less than 3 Hours Notice, there will be a Pickup Change Fee of $50. This is because we are managing dozens of vehicles and any pickup/delivery changes can impact other customers and require us to make changes to other reservations as a result.

Really just upset with how the whole process went from start to finish. It stared with a message 30 min before we were supposed to be picked up at the airport, saying the car we rented was no longer available due to it being in a accident. We were then told we would have the exact make and model we rented (long range) just in another car. Ok, that was a little frustrating but things happen. After making sure we had the same car over and over again in messages, and standing around waiting 40 min past the time we were supposed to be picked up at the airport (an extra fee of a little over $100) we then found out we did in fact NOT get the same car! The lady that dropped off the car was one of the owners and she was the one who told us it was not the same car. She said she would follow up with us shortly on the matter. Never heard another word from her… I then messaged the company letting them know the car smelled like someone had smoked in there, the passenger side seat didn’t move bc the button was broke staying in a very reclined position and AGAIN this wasn’t the same kind of car that we paid more for. During the trip I messaged the company MANY times about the matters and the main response was always, “ok, we will get with the team and back with you shortly.” I have followed up with them over and over again and I still get the same response about getting with the team and how they will get back to me. Finally the main guy said he would like to speak to me over the phone about the situation. So my husband and I gave him a call and told him what was going on. He asked how he could make it right and we stared off with asking well do you charge people the same price for a standard range vs long range car. He said no, and we asked for that be fixed. Then we also brought up how with it being a standard we had to charge the car more frequently losing time and more money on a car that didn’t hold the same charge, smelled like smoke, and had a broken seat. The guy then told us he would take off the tolls and charging fee and GET BACK to us after further investigating the situation… We got back on October 2nd spoke to him on the 3rd and then was charged additional fees couple days later on the 5th (not sure why). I did in fact reach out again about the fees and I’m sure you can guess what I was told, “we will follow up with the team and get back to you shortly,” that was on the 9th. Here it is October 12th and we still haven’t spoken with him again! Lastly, we both became sick with the smoke issue we had in the car, the guy even heard how my husband sounded on the phone and was made aware of the health issues the car had caused. Very disappointed in the whole experience, especially since this was a birthday gift for my husband.
I would also like to point out I held off on writing this review to the last day possible in hopes that we would hear back from the company, but I guess that’s not going to happen.
We provided a discount on the rental and a refund on the charging sessions. We communicated this with you via Turo messaging, and while I agree the delay in delivery and the swap from Long Range to Standard Range was not ideal, we were trying to quickly come up with a solution when the previous guest had an accident the early morning of your booking. The other option would have been just to cancel on you and leave you stuck. We felt like this was the best solution. We didn't notice smoke smell.
