Guidelines

Delivery costs are waived for all trips over 2 week. You may also choose to prepay for charging, and washing so you don't have to worry about it when you return the car. I only ask you return with enough range to get to a charging station. Any Question - Please call 562-301-1446. 1. The car has to be returned in the same condition as received. Car interior and exterior photos will be taken before and after each trip. Please drive responsibly. Any damage done to the vehicle inside/outside is renter’s responsibility. 2. Be careful not to damage the full vehicle vinyl wrap. Any damages done to the vinyl wrap must be paid for. 3. No smoking in the car. If the vehicle is smoked in, a FEE $250 will be applied. 4. No pets are allowed in the vehicle. Fee will be applied up to $250. 5. Any parking tickets or toll fees incurred during the rental period will be the responsibility of the driver. 6. **Please no automatic car washes.** This is a very expensive car and the automatic car-wash brushes may damage the body panels.   • How do I charge this car?

    You can easily charge the Model S with a standard wall outlet. Please download the Plugshare and Chargepoint apps to locate chargers in your area. SoCal has plenty but you need to plan a bit! Estimated charging time: Level 1 (120 volt): 60+ hours Level 2 (240 volt): 7-9 hours Supercharger (480 volt): 40 min to 90%; 70 min to 100% We will also include the Level 1 Charger that will be located in the front trunk. Level 1 charging typically take 60+ hours if the battery is empty. Please take care of the included charger as a replacement is $800.00. While charging in a SuperCharger, the charger will engage the locking pin and only when the charge is complete or cancelled the locking pin will dis-engage. Please do not forcibly remove the charger at anytime as this can damage the locking pin and charger. There is a fee for remaining at the supercharger after the car is at full charge.

  • What do I do if I damaged the car?

    If the car is damaged please notify me immediately. If you let me know of the damage during your trip I can assure you I will do my best to make sure you are charged the minimum. If you do not notify me of damage upon return, it will treated as an indication of you not wanting to work things out. The damage will be reported to Turo and they will assess their fees (if Turo mediates the damage claim they will charge a MINIMUM of $500).

  • What happens when I run out of electricity?

    The car will shut down and need to be towed to a charging station. Renters are responsible for towing fees. Please try to keep the car above 10% charge.

  • Where do I pick up if I land at LAX?

    For LAX pick up will be at the Aviation/LAX Metro Green Line Station at: 11500 Aviation Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045. From LAX, get on the "G" Shuttle and it will drop you off at this location for free. Car will be parked at this location, 2 miles from airport. Text me once you are at the car and send a picture of your driver's license; I will unlock the car remotely once I receive your driver's license picture. Key will be inside center console. Please contact me to coordinate pick-up or drop off if any issues arise: 562-301-1446

  • What should I do if I want to extend my rental?

    If you want to return the car early please contact me directly and I will arrange a way to get the car at your convenience. If you want to extend a trip, please request it through the app. I will always approve the request if the car is available.

  • Do I have to charge the car before returning it?

    Yes, the car must be returned with at least 100 mile range left or you will be charged a $50 fee. There are also supercharger idle fees from Tesla direct if you leave the car plugged in after it has fully charged. These fees will be forwarded to you, if incurred. You may also select the $25 Pre-Paid Charging Extra and not have to worry about charging prior to return.

  • Do I have to return the car clean?

    Car will be given clean, please make sure to return the car in same condition. Anything that requires more than a waterless wash and shakeout of car mats will be charged an appropriate cleaning fee. This is a tough review to write because our time with Chris’s Tesla was as much the product of bad luck as any issue with the car itself. Also, Chris was always very responsive and cordial every time I contacted him, and I didn’t get the impression that he didn’t care. Plus, aesthetically, the car is beautiful. But, this is what our time in the Model S was like: We picked up the car after 9p after landing at LAX. As we unlocked the car we noticed wear and tear on the exterior paint job and the handles; pretty normal for a car with a matte finish that is six years old I guess, but I didn’t see anything in the rental notes documenting this damage so my partner and I took several pictures so that we weren’t stuck with the bill. When we entered the car, however, we noticed that the interior floor did have some trash and hair all across it and the seats had crumbs in the seams. Didn’t feel like Chris cleaned it thoroughly, which was a real let down. When we tried to engage the windows and sunroof we noticed problems there too: the sunroof squeaks loudly upon opening and closing, the automatic lock on rear passenger door lets out a loud cranking sound too, and the front passenger window undergoes a ping-pong like up-and-down stutter when you try to raise it closed. The interior also had the faint smell of cigarette smoke. If you’re a new Tesla driver, just know that you will spend at least ~50min. charging to 80%, so budget your time wisely. It took me a little while during our time with the car to get the hang of the charging time-window required to meet the battery’s needs (remember, it’s a 2015 model). Supercharging stations are not as plentiful and close together as you’d expect in the LA metro area, so do plan wisely. We ran a flat on a trip out to Joshua Tree that we didn’t learn about until we returned to the city. Bummer. Chris was helpful in helping us identify what was wrong: we couldn’t see that it was a flat because the car is stocked with “run flat” tires which remain structurally solid while the air pressure is depleted. Chris informed us that we’d have to take it to a tire specialist to change it out with another “run flat,” but these tires are rarely stocked and have to be special ordered, which takes about a day on average. Extra bummer. So, we scrambled and borrowed a friend’s car while we figured out what to do. The real disappointment came when Chris didn’t initially offer to call ahead on our behalf and pay for the replacement (bad enough that we were losing time in the car) but instead requested that we front the cost so that he can reimburse us through Turo. This didn’t feel so great, especially since the low-profile “run flats” that the car was fitted with, the mechanic told me, tend to last half the time than a generic tire. I had to ask Chris to put the order in and pay for it on behalf because, well, it’s his car after all. I guess the fact that he didn’t take the initiative and had more of a “best of luck to you” attitude really didn’t sit well with me. In total, we lost a few days of use because of the ordeal, but he paid for the new tire in the end. So, I truly don’t know how to rate this experience. It’s a beautiful car that needs serious maintenance to live up to it’s “image.” Chris is a responsive host, but I think the experience can be made better if he showed better preemptive care. I *know* this is a rental and it’s wear-and-tear is probably why it’s being lent out, but I expected an experience that wasn’t mired by mechanical issues. So, take with that what you will. But it really is a beautiful machine.

It’s a beautiful car that needs serious maintenance to live up to it’s “image.” Chris is a responsive host, but I think the experience can be made better if he showed better preemptive care. I *know* this is a rental and it’s wear-and-tear is probably why it’s being lent out, but I expected an experience that wasn’t mired by mechanical issues. So, take with that what you will. But it really is a beautiful machine.

Chankrisna was an awesome host. Ran into some problems with the car during my rental and each time he acted immediately to help, even driving out to me when I needed help. Great guy, highly recommended!
