Parking details

All LUSO cars are conveniently located across the street from the San Diego Airport and are a 6-12 minute walk from both terminals. If you don’t feel like a quick walk in the gorgeous San Diego weather, UBER and LYFT rides are easily accessible outside each terminal.

Faqs

  • Need to pick up the car early?
    Simply log into the app and change your pick-up time. Insurance coverage is only valid during the booked time listed on the app. We kindly ask that if you need to pick up the vehicle early that you go into the TURO app and adjust your rental time accordingly. It’s very easy to do. (TURO does not want us to release a vehicle to a renter unless the rental period has started.) Likewise, if you will be late returning a vehicle, you must call and notify TURO at 1-866-735-2901 so that you will be protected with insurance coverage.
  • How do after-hours pickups and drop-offs work?
    We provide convenient options for easy after-hours pickup and drop-off. After booking we will contact you with more details.
  • Can I let someone else drive the car?
    Only the person who rents the car is insured to drive the vehicle. If you expect that someone else might drive the vehicle, simply upload their drivers license to the TURO app. It’s very easy to do. Unfortunately, failure to do this will cause insurance to be void, and you will be personally liable for the full cost of any damage.
  • Does this car have swag?
    You can't spell Volkswagen without "swag".
  • Returning a car late?
    If you will be late returning a vehicle, you must call and notify TURO at 1-866-735-2901 so that you will be protected with insurance coverage. Please note that sometimes a vehicle has back-to-back rentals and can be going out only an hour after it’s returned. Any late return will lead to a late return fee according to Turo regulations.
  • What if there is damage to the vehicle or I get into an accident?
    Please notify us of any damage or accidents that happen during your rental. We appreciate your honesty and will work with you to solve the problem.
  • Can I take the car into Mexico?
    Absolutely not. TURO's insurance policy does not cover vehicles outside the USA. This is strictly prohibited.

The experience started off rough with the vehicle being so far away. We did not know we needed to Uber to pick it up. Not a big deal that we had to, we just were not aware. When we arrived one of the tires was flat, so again, more time was lost. The rest of the experience, after finally getting the car and leaving was good as expected.

Would rent again, however communication with LUSO was a bit spotty. If you are picking up a car after hours, they message you a code to a lockbox with the keys 30 minutes before your pickup time, however for me it was more like 15 minutes before leaving me a bit antsy at the airport at 1030PM. If you're picking up late I'd recommend starting the trip 30min-1hr before you actually need the car to be in the safer side. The car itself was alright, some dings on the side and front and the low tire pressure light was on when I got in the car... Clean car and drove well though

This car is in terrible shape and the car was given to me with less than half a tank of gas. 1) There was damage all over the car but the worst was on the front passenger side black scrape and massive dents and damage all over the left side of the car. 2) was told to bring the car back at the same level of gas. How and I supposed to estimate how much gas to put in to get it to a little less than half tank? WTF 3) tire pressure light was on. Pretty sure the tires continued to leak when I had the vehicle. 4) I was embarrassed to drive this vehicle. It is totally misrepresented in this listing.
