Let me begin by saying that Sean and his family were very nice and prompt in their responses. There was unnecessary mystery in the pick up and drop off airport option. I was not told until I arrived where to meet my driver, who then drove myself with my luggage to an offsite business area. There, I was able to give the car a good look. It was very banged up and the remote opener (the only key) did not always work ( I was told this). I should have refused the car, but I was alone and felt ‘obliged’ in my own mind to go through with it. After I took pictures, and thanked Sean’s brother, he left. I turned on the car and immediately noticed 2 warning lights: the engine and the tire lights. I immediately texted Sean, and fortunately his brother was still on site. He filled all 4 tires with air for me (twice), but the light stayed on. The engine light was attributed to the vehicle being unable to measure the outside temp, so the automatic ambient temp feature was unavailable. I felt rather vulnerable away from the airport with a (very polite) stranger, and I couldn’t get the muster to ask out of the deal. I wasn’t sure I could get another vehicle to seat all of my family at the last minute and I was convinced the cost of doing so at the last minute would prove outrageous. I moved forward with the Turo car. Over the week, we were unable to lock the car (because the only unlock function on the insertable key unlocked the rear trunk). With a baby in the car, we learned to climb in and over two rows of seats to get to the front and insert the key. Among us, this act of desperation was done a dozen or more times. You see, the key would not unlock the car , but had a hair trigger lock function. When you placed it in your purse or pocket, it locked the car. Besides, a car should not be rented that cannot be locked and reliably unlocked. The warning engine light and tire light stayed on throughout the entire week creating quiet anxiety during the holiday trip. I had been warned that I would be charged if there was pet hair in the car, as I have a 9 lb service dog. I made sure to keep him in his kennel whenever he was I the car. The car had not been cleaned before rental and to my dismay there were a few hairs on the passenger seat I noticed. Black trash bags were placed in the trunk bottom and the aisle areas of the car. They covered dirt and or damage. Believe me, I totally regret using Turo and no one in my family will use it again. I can attach videos and pictures if you like. Just compare them to the car pictured on Turo. Pictures for advertising can be very misleading. Don’t do it!!!
