Description

For new Turo users, get a $25 credit by signing up using this link: https://turo.com/c/mikec1143 This fully loaded Tesla Model S P90D with Ludicrous Mode checks all the boxes: FAST (0-60 in 2.6 seconds according to Motor Trend), quiet, smooth, efficient, safe, spacious (front and rear trunks), and of course beautiful! Though there are a handful of Model S's available in San Diego, please be aware that not all Tesla's are equal. Sure you can save $20 per day by getting a single motor (slower with less range), non-Autopilot 2013. And while there is another red P90D, it doesnt have the $10,000 Ludicrous upgrade, so why pay more to rent a slower version? This vehicle has dual motors, a large 90 kWh battery, and is the performance version (with Ludicrous Speed) with neck snapping acceleration, though it can be driven as smooth as a Prius if you want to enjoy the relaxation of the electric drive train. Unlike any other Tesla that I've seen on Turo, it also comes with (6) different charge adapters to give you the greatest flexibility in charging if you're staying at a home or Airbnb that might have a 220 volt dryer outlet in the garage, where just about all the other Tesla's on Turo will have (3) adapters. Numerous renters have been able to use these, which eliminated the need to take time out of their trip to charge the car at a charging station. It's a great feeling to be able to charge the car while you sleep and wake up with a full charge! With Autopilot, you'll arrive at your destination much more refreshed, as the vehicle can do much of the work for you on the freeway, whether it is in stop and go traffic, or while zipping past all of the other vehicles while you're in the HOV lane (stickers are on the vehicle for solo occupant driving). Think of it as cruise control on steroids, where the car keeps within the lane, and a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. Please note, this is not autonomous driving, the driver is ultimately responsible for being in control of the vehicle.. With approximately 260 miles on a full charge, and free access to the more than 50 Supercharger locations in California, and hundreds of more outside of California, range anxiety is not an issue, and you may not have to spend a penny on fuel! The vehicle will arrive to you charged, detailed, and with phone charging cables (Apple Lightning, Micro-USB, and USB-C) for your convenience. Also, a complimentary adhesive metal disc that you can apply to the back of your phone is yours to keep, so you can utilize the magnetic phone dash mount. Other amenities: Panoramic Glass Roof Navigation with real time Google Traffic information Cold Weather Package (all 5 seats are heated, as is the steering wheel) Premium Audio (11 speakers plus 8" subwoofer) 21" Grey Wheels Carbon Fiber Decor & Spoiler Smart Air Suspension All-Wheel Drive Internet Radio with voice commands ("Play Imagine Dragons") Tinted Windows For a walkthrough of the Model S, please visit https://www.tesla.com/support/model-s-walkthrough

Parking details

For pickup in North County, I can meet you at the Park and Ride at the La Costa exit on I-5 (710 La Costa Ave, Encinitas, CA), there is plenty of long term parking there. Choose Carlsbad Airport for this to show as no cost, and let me know in a message

Guidelines

The vehicle will come to you detailed on the inside and outside. As this is my personal vehicle, I do expect it to come back relatively tidy. For your convenience you can choose the prepaid Turo extra for post-trip cleaning so you don't need to worry about vacuuming and external cleanliness. Please no smoking or vaping in the vehicle - Any violation will result in a charge for professional detailing to remedy the odor.

Faqs

  • How do I charge a Tesla?
The great thing about a Tesla is that there are many convenient ways to charge it. If you plan on road tripping in Southern California, Arizona, or Nevada, the free Supercharger network has you covered, and can get you from empty to full in about an hour, with the navigation system routing you to the best charger(s) for your trip simply by entering your final destination: https://www.tesla.com/findus#/bounds/35.8092361,-114.13121100000001,32.528832,-121.43817590000003?search=supercharger Please note that although this vehicle includes free Supercharging, Tesla does charge a fee of $0.40 per minute if your vehicle stays plugged in after charging is complete, so please be sure to move the vehicle once done. Any idle fees that I am charged for will need to be reimbursed. If you will be staying at a local hotel or resort, there is a good chance they already have a Tesla Destination Charger there, which can get you from empty to full in about 8-10 hours: (At most hotels there is no fee for their guests): https://www.tesla.com/findus#/bounds/33.114249,-116.90816000000001,32.534856,-117.30979689999998?search=destination%20charger, The vehicle comes with the J1772 adapter so you can plug into one of the 100's of public charging stations in town (typically about 12-14 hours to go from empty to full, and there may be charge): https://www.plugshare.com/?latitude=32.892476&longitude=-117.472100&spanLat=0.100000&spanLng=2 If you'll be staying at a house that perhaps has a common 240 volt outlet installed in the garage for a dryer or RV, I have included a few adapters which may allow you to charge there. Even if you only have access to a standard 120V outlet, the vehicle can charge from it, though somewhat slowly. Please be sure to return the vehicle with at least 20% charge (about 50 miles of range)
  • What happens if I scrape a wheel on a curb?
The 21" wheels are beautiful and roll on low profile tires. As a result, if you tap a curb while parking, there is little rubber to protect the wheel. Fortunately, this vehicle has auto tilting mirrors, so when you are parallel parking, the outside mirrors tilt down, allowing you to see exactly how close you are to the curb, which really helps minimize the chances of touching the curb. Should you get curb rash on one of the wheels, my cost to repair each wheel is $150, which I would need to be reimbursed for.
  • How does Autopilot work?
The best demonstration I could find: https://youtu.be/AiOxUcDgsa8?t=64 Autopilot is powerful, but the driver is ultimately in control of the vehicle and needs to take over if necessary. Just as you would not use cruise control on surface streets, Autopilot should be reserved for freeway use only.

This was my first time driving an electric car. To begin that experience in a top-of-the-line super charged two (2) engine P90T was an experience above all else. And that’s an understatement. The cool factor of the car speaks for itself. Once you press the pedal everything else is a blur. Life outside just seems to stop and stand still. I am a Tesla fan from here forward. Hopefully I can become a Tesla owner sooner than later. Thanks again Mike for everything. You were easy to work with, very flexible and made the trip that much more fun. Thanks again

Scott E.-23 oct. 2018

Both the Tesla and Mike were awesome. He was pretty flexible about the pickup/drop off time and was super helpful with explaining everything related to driving and charging an electric car. The Model S was incredible to drive.

Boston L.-12 oct. 2018

One of the highlights of our trip was driving Mike's Model S. This was our first time using Turo, and he made the process painless with great communication and being willing to work with our flight arrival and departure times.

Mike was great to work with! Easy to contact and responsive. Loved the car! It’s so fast and powerful! Interior and exterior is very clean! He gave great detail on features and functions before we started driving. Wonderful experience! Would love to rent again from him!
