Faqs

  • How is driving a Tesla different from a regular car?
It's faster, quieter, and doesn't use gas! However, since it does take time to charge, you will need to take charging time into consideration if you plan to drive more than 100-130 miles during your trip. Typical charging times at most Blink/ChargePoint charging stations is about 20 miles per hour of charge.
  • How do I charge at a Blink or ChargePoint station?
    1. Arrive at a Blink/ChargePoint charging station 2. Use the provided Blink/ChargePoint keycard 3. On the car’s touchscreen, select “Controls” in the lower left of the screen. Then select “Charge Port” in the lower left of the screen. The little door to the charger will open (it’s on the driver’s side, by the taillight). 4. Insert the Tesla charger adapter that’s located in the cup holder into the Tesla charger (behind the little door). 5. Waive the keycard in front of the charging terminal. It should authorize and then say that it’s ready to charge. 6. Insert the Blink/ChargePoint charger into the car. The touchscreen will confirm that the car is charging. 7. If you leave, lock the car. Others can unplug the charging cable, but they will not be able to take the adapter unless the car is unlocked. Typical charging times at most charging stations is about 20 miles per hour of charge.
  • Where do I charge the Tesla? How much does it cost?
You get FREE charging at any Blink or ChargePoint location. To find locations near you, go to: • Blink Network: http://www.blinkcharging.com/blink-map • ChargePoint: https://na.chargepoint.com/charge_point (or download the ChargePoint mobile app)
  • Can I charge using a regular outlet?
Yes, you can also use a regular outlet to charge using the provided cable; however, you will only be able to charge 3-4 miles per hour using a regular outlet.
  • Do I have to return the car fully charged?
No - you DO NOT have to charge the car upon return. It's like renting a car and having the rental agency pay for your gas!

David was an amazing host. Showed me how to work the Tesla’s operating system and charging. The car was a dream and sparkling clean! I highly recommend renting from David if you are vacationing in San Diego or just interested in buying a Tesla and want to try one out first! I loved the car and now plan to purchase one! Thanks so much David!
