Description

Okay friends. ARE YOU READY? You are about to experience a new and different driving experience! The Nissan LEAF is 100% electric. That means no filthy gasoline. NONE! So forget about the cost of a gallon, and say hi to FREEDOM from those expensive polluting pumps. Furthermore, you can return it without charging it back up. HOWEVER PLEASE NOTICE! IF YOU HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED driving and charging a 100% electric car, I recommend that you rent a traditional gasoline car. While the learning curve is not difficult, it is a learning curve and you need to know how to charge it at the various free charging stations around the valley, or at the hotel where you are staying (some hotels have charging available for guests). FOR LOCAL USE ONLY, you cannot drive it to Los Angeles! The vehicle has to be charged every night to be ready to go the next day. Check your hotel to see if charging is available. The great news is that three of the biggest, Palm Springs Hilton, JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert and the Omni Rancho Las Palmas in Rancho Mirage have FREE charging available! This car is quiet, flexible, maneuverable with a great turning radius, and a lot of fun to drive! The electric motor is powered by an advanced lithium-ion battery with an average range of 80 miles on a full 100% charge. Using the AC here in our desert summer will drop the range to about 50 miles. It takes 2-3 hours to charge at 240-volt and overnight with a 110-volt (The car also comes standard with a 110-volt charging cord that plugs into any regular household 110V outlet). CHARGING STATIONS? Good News! Charging stations are located all over Coachella Valley. Almost all are free located in Coachella Valley City Halls, public libraries, public parking structures in downtown Palm Springs (behind the popular Las Casuelas Terraza), Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage (Hope and 10 freeway) and in the parking structure in Cathedral City (next to Mary Pickford theaters). Several hotels offer free charging for the guests for free. Be sure to check your hotel. That’s just for starters. For locating and availability, download plugshare.com on your device and you can see all the charging stations in Coachella Valley. With plugshare.com on your device, you can look up charging stations instantly as you drive around the valley. The vehicle also has a charging station locator. Car OPTIONS: Silver metallic exterior & tan interior. Fully loaded. Great sound system - Bluetooth Audio & Aux. - CD player - Non-smoking vehicle. - GPS Navigation - Automatic transmission - LED high-efficiency headlights - Key-less smart system, and a fast charging port. AVAILABILITY It will be fully charged at 100%. The car does not have to be fully charged when returned. CLEANING Please remember that this is a car share and not a car rental. The car must be returned in the same condition as you received it. Mud, dirt, sand, food particles, beverage spills, or other will result in a cleaning fee. Thank you for your cooperation. Remember, the car does not have to be fully charged when returned. Thanks so much, Steve

  • Where do I find charging stations in the Coachella Valley?
Charging stations are located all over Coachella Valley. The best locations are your house or the house where you are staying. A charging cord will be provided so you can charge it overnight at any house with a secure garage. Many hotels offer free charging for the guests. Check your hotel before booking. Hotels offering free charging: 1. Hilton in Palm Springs for guests only 2. Omni in Rancho Mirage ask the valet before entering 3. JW Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert ask the valet before entering When you look at the pictures of the car, you noticed a map of Coachella Valley and the available charging stations. This map is from Plugshare.com. Almost all are free located in Coachella Valley 1. City Halls 2. Public libraries 3. Public parking structures in downtown Palm Springs (behind the popular Las Casuelas Terraza) 4. Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage (Hope and 10 freeway) 5. Parking structure in Cathedral City next to Mary Pickford theaters
  • How long does it take to charge?
The most convenient time is to charge it overnight at the hotel. If you are staying at a friend or relative's house, you need to check with them about charging it overnight. At the public free charging stations will take 2-4 hours to charge at 240-volt and overnight with a 110-volt (The car also comes standard with a 110-volt charging cord that plugs into any regular household 110V outlet). The most convenient way to use this car is to have charging available at your hotel or place of residence and charge it overnight so it will be ready each morning. Using it this way, you will not have to recharge it during the day as long as you drive only about 50-60 miles each day.
  • Do I have to have it fully charged when I return it?
No! Just have enough so I can get home! :-)
  • Can I go on the freeway?
Yes, this car has plenty of get up and go to drive on the freeway. Just remember, the faster you drive the more energy is demanded, and the quicker the battery will need to be recharged. It is recommended that you drive on the streets here in Coachella Valley rather than using the freeway.

We loved having the opportunity to drive a 100% electric car. Stephen took the time to explain many things about the car to us. The car was so smooth and quiet and we had absolutely no problems with it. Also there were lots of charging stations all over the city just like he said.

Loved having an electric car to drive! It worked out very well for the relatively short distances I needed to drive, and there were plenty of charging stations around.
