Description

“Racer Red” is a unique beach friendly Prius with wetsuit seat covers, and a powerful stereo with a small DVD screen that makes it sound like a theater inside! Tint helps the car stay cool especially on hot days on the Kona side. It has good AC and a new remanufactured hybrid battery. It gets awesome gas mileage. It’s been doing 50+ even with the AC on.

Features

Automatic transmission
Audio input
Long-term car

Parking details

Home location is a cul-de-sac in a private neighborhood. Truck is parked on the street. Door will be unlocked and key under the driver's floor mat just prior to your pickup time.

Guidelines

Pets okay as long as no smell is made and car is returned clean. Don’t smoke anything in the car. AAA Agent said most accidents are caused by tailgating. Please make sure to have a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. Feel free to ask me questions.

Faqs

  • Does it drive like a regular automatic?
Yes, and no. Once you get familiar with a Prius, it's very similar to driving an automatic hatchback car. I'd recommend watching a few videos on driving a Prius, or introduction to a Prius to get familiar. Especially get familiar with using the "B" gear which is engine brake, effectively downshifts to slow the car down. This is MUCH BETTER THAN RIDING THE BRAKES, which can cause problems and possible failures, and expensive fixes. Please be mindful. Make sure to use the "B" gear when going down steep declines to help slow the car down... especially 75mph to 60mph. You can shift from B to D back and forth to help reduce braking and optimize down hill driving.
  • How do I start it?
Real quick summary: put the key fob into the slot right of the steering wheel. Hold the brake pedal down and press the POWER button for 1 second. After power up you should see READY meaning it’s ready to drive. Gear shift knob to right of steering wheel to select gear. Make sure to use the "B" gear when going down steep declines to help slow the car down... especially 75mph to 60mph. You can shift from B to D back and forth to help reduce braking and optimize down hill driving.
  • How do I turn it off / get the key out?
After you have stopped and ready to park, press the rectangular P button above the gear shift lever. This will put the Prius into Park mode. If you are on a level surface, that is enough. If not, also engage the manual parking brake with your foot on the far left side, foot area. Press down to engage, press down again to disengage. After parked, press the Power Button again, and the car will turn off, screen will go blank, and the key can be removed.

Was perfect for driving around big island, barely spent any money on gas with this car!
