Description

Sion FR-S 2013, aka GT86, (almost)identical twin to the Subaru BRZ. 6-Speed Manual, all stock, black on black. 2 door 2+2 seats coupe, (rear seats only suitable for small adults or for short trips). It gets about 29mpg combined on premium gas. One of the best handling driver’s cars ever made, (not just according to me, it won Top Gear car of the year for that). Bring this car through SR-9 up to the mountain, follow Skyline Blvd or down to the PCH(HW-1), likely you will remember the day for a long time, and look forward to doing it again. This car only has ~55k miles on it, doesn't have any modification at all(except tires), so you can experience the GT86 as Mr. Tada intended it to be. If you are looking at this car, I believe you know what this car is, there is no need for introduction. But here comes some links anyway: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_86 http://www.topgear.com/car-news/top-gear-magazine/top-gear-magazine-car-year http://www.topgear.com/car-news/insider/meet-brains-behind-toyota-gt-86 http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/comparison/2017/mazda-mx-5-rf-vs-toyota-gt86-vs-bmw-2-series-coupe-triple-test-review-2017/ Especially the last one, who would've thought 5 years in, this car can still hold grounds against new entries like Miata RF and 2-series. Quote: "if you’re serious about buying a coupe because of the way it drives and not merely the way it looks, this is your car." "Collectively, we’ve been asking for cars like this, and when they disappear because we didn’t fill our garages with them, we’ll only have ourselves to blame." *The car is currently running on a pair of 225 45r17 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, and a pair of Pilot Sport A/S 3+, which pair in front depends on rotation.(currently PS4S)

Guidelines

~~~BE AWARE, THIS CAR HAS MANUAL TRANSMISSION~~~ To book this car, you need to know how to drive manual cars. I may ask you to show me that you CAN drive a manual. PS, if you want to learn to drive a manual, look for VW cars. The clutch of this car is tuned to be quick and fun to drive, it may not to be easy to master for beginners. Learning to drive manual in this car will be a miserable experience I wouldn’t wish for. Premium gas only, I may ask to see receipts. No pets no smoking, no track/autocross use, please! No drag racing(are you sure you picked the right tool for the job?), just kidding, but still no please...
A+, would rent from again. He had to be somewhere at the pickup time and went through the hassle of dropping the car off at my place, much appreciated. Great car, great owner. Car was super clean both inside & out.
This was my first time using Turo, and there couldn't have been a better experience than with Xiaofei. He was accommodating and answered all of my redundant questions patiently and to the best of his knowledge. Best of all, he was willing to be flexible if we needed it. Overall he was very kind and humble. The car was bone stock minus the tires which helped make winding turns exhilarating. As a vehicle, I thought it was perfect for winding roads like the coastal highway; honestly too much weight and power isn't what you want in those settings and the FRS has neither. While the FRS doesn't have tons of power, it has far more than enough to accelerate out of turns and get you smiling from ear to ear - this chassis is as good as everyone says it is. Much to my surprise, this car was a dream cruising straight roads for long periods of time. The engine has plenty of torque in 6th to maintain a speed as low as 60mph. Once you're under 3k, the engine gets much quieter and reduced the cabin noise significantly. I'm not going to lie, it wasn't the quietest car I've ever been in. The seemingly non-existent insulation, tight suspension and the hard tires definitely amplified road noise, but in the end, I actually got used to it; especially cruising in 6th at highway speeds. My co-pilot (mother) who drives her 5-series luxury boat didn't mind it too much either. I can also appreciate that the owner plugged the exhaust noise port that makes vroom noises in the cabin. Aside from the chassis, the gearbox was one of my other favorite things about the car, along with the hard brake feel. The steering wheel is awesome. I didn't love the throttle response. It was very strange and made me think too hard ever moment. I was hoping I'd get used to it, but I didn't. The clutch was fine - I managed to do stop and go on Hyde in San Francisco and get going just fine with it. If you like feeling one with a car, pulling through long winding turns and using gears, but also want to relax afterward and just cruise, this is your car. BTW the trunk can fit two BIG suitcases. Check online for trunk dimensions. You'd be surprised how much can fit in the car.
Great experience both with the car and the owner - Xiaofei is friendly, flexible, and truly cares both about the car and making sure you have a good experience. Highly recommend!
