Used this car for a photo shoot and was awesome!! Such a cool ride and Cory was quick to respond and accommodate. Make sure you're a competent driver if your want to rent, like any classic car!

The Thing was everything we could have asked for and more! Cory was very accommodating and made everything super easy. Thanks again Cory!

I hesitated to write a review and waited until the last day to do so because I was not wanting to "hit" someone with a poor review but then figured that there would be someone else down the road that should be given a heads up about the host and his vehicle. I paid $125 per day plus optional insurance. After my initial booking (I extended it for another day during my trip) the rate online was $106 per day. This is a very high rate for such a vehicle and the condition that I picked it up in when compared to others on the site was not within line for what I paid. Cory suggested I pay him directly to his paypal account for the last day but I didn't want to jeopardize my TURO rating or void my insurance for the day. So I paid the higher rate of $125. Yes, "It's a classic, cool, Southern California, go surfing, beach type of vintage vehicle. So I thought it would be fun to cruise around in. I get all that and thought O.K..I will pay far more than it's worth...BUT at the very least it should have been cleaned. We were pushed for time and being new to TURO and glass half full type of person I didnt try to go about cancelling it at that time and going somewhere else or renting another car. I waited at the lot (after I was told it would be there earlier by 2 hours) for a little over a half hour with my 81 year old mom in the hot parking valet lot. I called Cory and he said he just washed it and was filling it up with gas. This could have been done days in advance and not in the lot waiting for us...but the part that I was really upset with was that it was NOT clean. The windshield was smeared with dirt stains from the wipers. Hard to see through. My mom asked if he could clean the seat before she sat down. I had to cover it with a blanket for her. There was trash throughout the vehicle... rust pieces from the car, and other debris on the floors. Empty large water bottles and jugs, a pair of shorts, papers and the list goes on. I put all of it in the trunk. Personally I own several vintage vehicles. I know that they arent like the new cars of today. The Newest car I own is a '71 Toyota Landcruiser. I also own a '24 Chevy, a ''33 Ford and others and they are all Clean and in good, clean, safe, operating condition. I would NEVER present a car to someone such as this VW Thing as Cory did especially if I was paying to rent it at ANY price. Cory appears to be a nice guy but if he or anyone is going to be in the business of renting out their vehicle then have some pride and take responsibility for your car. The condition of the car had be thinking how safe is the vehicle and has it been maintained. The 2 star rating is that it was a fun vehicle and does get alot of attention and that Cory appears to be a nice guy... but he shouldn't be in the car rental business until he makes some changes.
