No one likes to worry about mileage limits or added charges while they're driving a rental, especially a fun one like mine. Therefore, my mileage is unlimited and delivery is free to the whole Las Vegas metropolitan area.
Turo insurance is required based on Turo's own rules, but if you are renting this vehicle, I highly recommend you pay for it using a credit card that offers PRIMARY Rental Car Insurance. This type of rental insurance is only offered by a few credit cards but using 1 of those credit cards affords me and you extra protection if the worst happens because you won't even have to go through Turo's insurance or your own insurance!
Next, you must know how to drive a manual transmission vehicle. When we meet to initially handoff the keys, you will drive me around the area for a couple of minutes so that I can quickly assess your ability to shift gears and use a clutch pedal, unless we discuss your manual shifting ability ahead of time.
This is a 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP in black on black! The G8 GXP was only made for 1 year and there were only about 2000 GXPs made, of which, only about 800 have the manual transmission so you are driving a rare vehicle. This vehicle has the LS3 6.2 liter V8 straight from the factory, the same V8 that can be found in the 2009-2013 Chevrolet Corvette. The 6-spd manual transmission is amazing to row and a manual is truly rare in an automobile these days, especially a family sedan. But don't let the family sedan exterior fool you, with 415-hp (310 kW) and 415 lb./ft. of torque (563 Nm) plus the subtle but angry exhaust note, you'll fly under the radar of police but still draw stares when pulling up to valet on the Strip. Or you can blow the doors off other sporty cars with a 4.7 seconds 0-60mph (0-100kph) time.
Literally, the only downside to all that power, size, and presence is that it sucks up fuel/petrol to the tune of 20 mpg (24 miles/imp. gal. or 8.5 km/L or 12 L/100km) on the highway. And in the city, it averages 13 mpg (16 miles/imp. gal. or 5.5 km/L or 18 L/100km). Combined driving averages about 17 mpg (20.5 miles/imp. gal. or 7 km/L or 14 L/100km). But it is a truly worthwhile price for the BMW-like driving dynamics and the American V8 muscle bass-line. In addition, this car sports ultra-high performance Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires so I'd recommend using the car to visit areas where the temperature will remain above freezing. However, when temperatures are in a comfortable range, these tires are ultra-sticky and invite confident driving along with the factory Brembo brakes.
The interior of the car is no joke either. Leather seating all around with space for 5 (4 passengers + the driver). There is plenty of legroom in the back and the front, with space comparable to a BMW M5, Audi S6/S7 or Mercedes E63 AMG. The seats are all incredibly comfortable and supportive! The trunk also has a passthrough into the rear seat through the center, but unless you have anything truly oversized, it will probably fit in the cavernous trunk anyways. There is an audio input jack on the stereo system and the stereo itself definitely kicks out the beat. You can also link your phone to the Bluetooth for calls. The automatic dual-zone front climate control and the separate rear seat vents keeps all the occupants comfortable at all times no matter what the weather outside is doing. The windows are also tinted with heat/UV reflecting tint to keep the interior as cool as possible during the height of summer. However, the car is black so parking in the shade is encouraged as black loves to soak up the heat of the sun.
For present day reference, the current Chevrolet SS sedan is the slightly updated version of this Pontiac G8 GXP. Known in Australia (where it was made) as the Holden Commodore VE-SS, the current Chevrolet SS is known as the VF-SS, so just slightly updated. Another great feature of Australian cars is that they are set-up for trailer hitches (American cars won't do it because auto manufacturers need to sell big trucks!) so accordingly there is a Class-I trailer hitch, ball and trailer wiring on this vehicle which is perfect for any hitch-mounted rack or trailer i.e. bike rack, luggage rack, mobility scooter rack, small utility trailer, small motorcycle carrier, etc.
I hope you enjoy renting my vehicle and I look forward to hearing from you with any questions.
