David and the Mini Cooper were awesome! David made it so convenient, he picked us up right outside the terminal and dropped us off on our last day. No waiting on car rental shuttles or standing in huge lines! The mini copper was the perfect car for the islands curvy roads and it fit easily in all the tight parking spaces around Maui. I highly recommend a rental from David, don’t waste your time with the big car rental companies. Rent a mini or one of his other cars and have some fun, you won’t regret it!

The Turo option was clearly much cheaper than traditional rental cars and I could tell from the reviews on the Turo web site that the Toyota we selected was going to be dependable and safe. It turned out to also be clean and perfect for our needs. I like that we were working with the actual owner and contributing to the local economy in a more personal way. Good experience!

Great rental. Car was very fun to drive. I only have 2 complaints, but they were not enough to subtract from 5 stars. The tire maintenance light was on the whole trip, but Joe reassured me there was nothing wrong with the car - which was true. The car didn't provide enough room for 2 checked-in suitcases to comfortable ride so they had to stay bungie-corded into the trunk to drive around with them (when necessary). This was probably a safe drive anyways, but I felt paranoid every minute I was driving with them - including the few minutes I was on the 45 MPH highway. This was only an issue during pick-up and drop-off and in between the check-in/check-out time of the airBNB. I honestly can't blame Joe for that because I should've done my research on this before renting. But seriously - this was a great rental from a great guy, I would definitely rent again if he would have me. I drove most of the road to Hana with this car and it was a fun an amazon drive due to this car (apart from those crazy 1-lane roads).

Paula's car was clean and her service is tip top! she communicated before our arrival and departure, and arrive ahead of time to make sure we didn't have to wait and was on time for our flights. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a hassle-less car rental experience. I'd definitely rent a car from Paula in the future when I visit Maui again.

We had an amazing trip and Esteban and his car played a big part in that. Esteban is extremely punctual and met us at the curbside both for pickup and departure exactly at the decided time. The whole pickup and departure process was super smooth, and is a huge improvement over picking up cars from traditional car rental companies. Esteban was very flexible with pick up and return times. His car is amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Maui. Cruising in a convertible on the amazingly beautiful roads of Maui was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Esteban was also very prompt with providing answers to any questions we had (like dimensions of the trunk). Overall this was a great experience!

First time Turo user and had a great experience with Doug, who dropped off this great convertible at the airport. He texted me a map of where car was parked (along with the ticket to get out of lot and $5 to pay). He also left detailed instructions on how to open the convertible top, and lists of his favorite restaurants and activities. Entire process was seamless. Had a blast zipping around Maui with the top down! I will never go back to traditional car rental companies and will get Doug’s fabulous car again if I ever get back to Maui!

Hele Maui was easy to work with. They provided a cheap car for the island. If you're looking for a car rental that will get you from point A to point B with no problems, easy communication with the one you're renting from, and a car to fit your budget, this is the place to rent from. We're glad we did.

Prices are great, cars are great, but the best thing about Kihei rent a car for me was the customer service. From the shuttle drivers to everyone working in the office all employees were extremely friendly, informative, helpful and professional. This car is perfect to do a trip! Its cheap in gas and the host are flexible and answer pretty fast! Recommend it!

Shawn was great! Prompt, great communication, and he took the time to answer my Tesla questions, which I had many, as we rented it because we are looking to buy one and wanted to have an extended test drive before ordering one. The car is amazing...words can’t describe how much nicer it is compared to the other non-Tesla electric cars and any gas car. The settings on the screen do take a little getting used too, but it’s quick, intuitive, and logical. This car does not have the autopilot or autosteer so keep that in mind if you want to try that feature. Love the car and we want one even more now. In closing, an amazing car worth trying out, and a great owner to rent from.

Tyler was an absolute please to work with and provide flexibility and care when making changes. Prompt pickup and easy rental return made this rental top notch! Plus he provided us with chairs, cooler and snorkel gear for a small cost. Will definitely use his service next year in Maui!

This entire experience went above and beyond our expectations of a car rental. Not only did David provide transportation to and from the car exchange, but he took the time to give us suggestions and explain how to experience the most while avoiding a lot of crowds. He really made us feel welcome, like some old friends. Oh—and the car? Cool, clean, unique, driveable. Everything that you can’t get at a regular car rental place.

What an awesome car, as if I even need to say that! We had a super fun time exploring Maui in style, and couldn't have asked for a better host. We had an issue at one point, and after a few texts, it was rectified right away. I would have left a six star review if given the option. They literally went out of their way to pick me up from the airport. My bags got delayed do to another flight and was bummed that I might miss the shuttle but literally minutes after seeing their shuttle leaving another one came by to pick me up. The staff where very nice and had stories to tell for days. The car was clean and saved me lots of gas but what really stood out was how the cars are not marked as rental cars. They have regular licence plates so less of a chance of you or your family standing out as tourist and having your stuff stolen or worse. I will definitely be booking with them again in the near future!

Such an easy and cool way to rent a car in Maui. The cute little Fiat 500 with a push button convertible roof was awesome. And really good gas mileage too. No waiting to check in at car rental agency, the car was just waiting for us to arrive. Another good thing the locals told us, this car does not look like a rental car so we were less likely to get broken in to. So easy to park, fits anywhere, and looks like a little Skittle. Where do I start? First off, you will not have a better experience than dealing with David. The car collection, his flexibility, and sheer friendliness made the rental an experience that blew away my expectations. David really wants you to have an amazing time, and he's willing to spend hours giving you the low down on making the best out of your excursion. Before we met with David to pick up the car I had no idea what to expect from the Road to Hana, after hearing so many conflicting experiences people had their journey. After sitting down with David and going over our options I left confident in having incredible time on the trip, and boy was I right! My wife and I took the Fiat because it was our only option on the island for both a convertible and manual. To be fair we were pretty apprehensive about our choice, and hemmed and hawwed for a few days before commiting to the rental. If you're thinking about this car for your own trip, put your worries away and grab it before it's gone! The car was a complete hoot and perfect for the Road to Hana and island in general. If you havent been before, the island has a max speed limit of 55mph for just a few miles, with most being 25-45mph. You can bang through the gears in the little Fiat, listen to the exhaust that makes you feel like you're going twice as fast as you really are, and not have to worry about getting arrested. Not to mention a lot of roads are only a single lane wide, the Fiat makes it easy to in and around all the Jeeps and giant SUVs less saavy tourists drive. I really hope I get the opportunity to check out the other fun cars David offers (that Morgan would be a BLAST), but do yourself a favor and make your reservation before it's gone!

The car worked well and got good gas mileage. It was raining when we arrived and it took us some time to find. The vehicle did not have a front passenger armrest which was different. It was convenient having the car at the airport, however the past two (and only) times we have used Turo the owner took care of additional charges (ie parking lot costs or Uber driver ride to and from vehicle). The cost was minimal at $3.

Shawn and his red Tesla Model S are the best! I can't say more than it was the best Turo experience, or car rental experience hands down that I've ever had. Met me curbside at the airport with a full charge, and met me back on the day I departed right at my planned time. Always great communication and availability, and you can't beat a Tesla for experiencing Maui without harming the environment.

Can I just say the Kihei Car Rental team are freaking amazing. From Nani picking us up at the airport to Lynn dropping us off. This is our second Turo rental, and it went like clockwork. We were retrieved from the airport, driven a short distance to get the car, and we were off. The price is much lower. The car was clean and a recent model. And, Tyler/Dan were very personable. highly recommend this car rental company.

Esteban made our first experience with Turo an absolute breeze! He sent clear communication promptly and was always responsive. Going through him gave us an ease extra 2 hours to our trip by not having to deal with car rental lines and literally meeting him curbside at pick up and drop off. He was a gentleman and very kind. The car ran well and was such a blessing to have on our trip-we rode with the top down a good majority of the time on Maui. We also appreciated that he had a USB adaptor in the car (we had our own cord) so we could charge our phones as they died much sooner than normal from all the photos/videos we took.

His convertible Mustang was the perfect car to see the island in...drove up past Pa'ia on the road to Hana a ways with the top down and it was beautiful! I know you can rent a convertible from Hertz, but why not give that cash to an island resident... Had a great Turo experience with Paul!!
