** ELECTRIC CAR ** !!! DOES NOT have a gasoline engine !!! ++ FREE FAST CHARGING ++ Please read through all the information on this listing carefully, including all the Frequently Asked Questions, and be certain you want to rent an electric vehicle before booking. Travelers that rent this car are responsible for knowing how to charge an electric vehicle, how to find charging locations within the available vehicle range and how to estimate charging times at charging locations. The host for this car will be available by cell phone or text to answer questions on vehicle charging, vehicle performance and charging locations. Travelers that deplete the high voltage battery while in transit will be responsible for contacting Turo to have the car towed to nearest charging station (up to 15 miles) and the traveler will be responsible for all other expenses related to time delays due to depleted battery. When going to an unfamiliar public charging station CALL FIRST!!! Don't expect the station to be functioning or usable just because the station is listed on a website or app. Find out from the station operator if the charger has an EV Plug (not Tesla plug) or a CHAdeMO plug, if the charger is functioning and what the billing options for the charger are before proceeding to the station. 2018 Nissan Leaf has a 40 kWh high voltage battery and comes with NEMA 14-50 240V charging cord for 6.6 kW charging (gives 25 mph of range) that can be used to charge at RV Parks and an adapter for standard 120V, 1.5 kW charging (gives 5 mph of range). Up to 6.6 kW charging (gives 25 mph of range) possible from EV plugs at DFW local public EVgo, ChargePoint and Blink charging stations and up to 47 kW charging (gives up to 150 mph of range), depending on battery temperature and State Of Charge, possible from CHAdeMO plugs at DFW local public EVgo charging stations and Nissan dealerships. An EZ Charge card is included with rental for free charging at EVgo, ChargePoint and Blink charging stations (EZ Charge card must be returned with vehicle). Use the PlugShare app or refer to the PlugShare website to identify charging locations. Many hotels offer free overnight EV charging. Tolls - $5 (one time admin fee) plus the toll fees you incur.

Parking details

There is plenty of parking space on the street in front of my house so leaving your car parked in front of my house while you rent my car would not be a problem as long as your car is legally registered. The street is relatively quiet and safe but I can still not be held accountable for any damage to or theft from your car if you park your car on the street in front of my house. Parking of Recreational Vehicles and construction vehicles overnight is not allowed in my neighborhood and may result in those vehicles getting ticketed and/or towed. Even though this is my place of residence and I do like to meet my renters in person, I work during week and I may have to perform remote deliveries to accommodate your preferred rental dates and times.

Guidelines

No Smoking - A $250 cleaning fee plus repair costs of any burn damage will be accessed for evidence of smoking in the car. Dogs are welcome but please return the car clean.

Faqs

  • Does this car have a gasoline engine?
No - This is an all electric vehicle that can be charged at local DC Fast Charging and EV public charging stations or anywhere there is a 120V wall outlet. A depleted battery will charge in about one hour using a CHAdeMO fast charger, in about six hours using a public EV charger and in about twenty four hours using a 120V wall outlet. The car comes with a 120V/240V outlet charging cord and the locations of public CHAdeMO fast chargers and EV chargers can found using the PlugShare app or website.
  • What is the range on a single charge?
The original EPA rated combined city/highway range is 151 miles. A renter can expect a usable range of about 90 miles with a continuous speed of 75 mph, at least 130 miles at a continuous speed of 60 mph and a usable range of 170 miles at a continuous speed of 40 mph. Stop and go traffic, excessive speed and the use of climate control can dramatically reduce range. Using heated seats instead of the heater during extreme cold weather makes the battery last much longer.
  • Can a renter use the DART Orange Line train to pick the car up at DFW Airport?
Yes. Delivery is offered to DFW Airport Terminal A which is where the DART Orange Line train station is. The car will be connected to an DFW Airport EV charger at Terminal A so the will be fully charged when the renter picks up the car. The car delivery location in Terminal A is also easily accessible from the TexRail Station in Terminal B by way of the covered walkway.
  • How does battery temperature affect charging speed?
The 2018 Leaf does not have active cooling of the traction battery. Heat generated from fast charging and traveling at high speeds on the highway does not quickly dissipate and the battery can get very hot after just one or two fast charges. This elevated battery temperature will not hurt the battery but the Thermal Management System of the car will limit charging speeds and even highway speeds when the battery gets hot. The fastest this car has ever charged with a cool battery is 47 kW. With a very hot battery (battery temperature gauge in the red zone) this car has fast charged as slow as 11 kW. If you are planning to use this car on a long highway trip or with a lot of high speed around town driving with multiple fast charges then you need to account for much longer charging stops after the battery gets hot.
  • Why does a fast charger only charge for 30 minutes?
CHAdeMO fast chargers at EVgo stations and at Nissan dealerships have timers that limit the charge to 30 minutes. If you need more charge than the car can accept in 30 minutes then you will need to reinitialize the charger after the timer runs out and you may need to reinitialize a couple of times if the battery is hot and charging slow. J1772 chargers and Electrify America fast chargers do not limit charge time but they may impose idling fees if the car is left on the charger after the car is fully charged,

Good car, nice interior and features, electric isn’t there yet for long hauls 100 miles or more. Would recommend for city driving.

My trip with Dan’s Nissan Leaf was amazing. For the first time I drove an electric car and Dan was very helpful. I really liked the safety feature on the car.

Bona B.-May 19, 2019

The car was exactly what we want to use. Dan was a pleasure to work with. The car was clean charged and ready to go. Dan took the time to review the features, performance and use of special applications of an EV. If your thinking of purchasing an electric vehicle Turo is a great platform to see if it would fit your lifestyle. Looking for a LEAF to rent I highly recommend Daniel. 5 Stars and Two thumbs up. Thanks Dan.
