Parking details

There is plenty of street parking near my home. Please keep in mind however that Denver has a 72 hour limit on street parking before possible ticketing. A vehicle must be moved at least 1000 feet every 3 days to avoid citations and eventual towing.

Guidelines

* No smoking or vaping in the car (tobacco or marijuana). * Please return car interior without any trash or personal belongings left in it - I do not require you to vacuum or clean UNLESS you’ve spilled, stained or really tracked in a lot of dirt/mud/sand. * Short trips with animals are fine HOWEVER cats need to be in a carrier and please do not leave a large amount of shedded fur behind for me to clean. If the car smells like a zoo upon returning, I will have to apply an appropriate detailing charge. DO NOT transport any animals that might get sick or have accidents. * Feel free to use toll roads, however be aware that I will submit any charges after I receive my statement back to you. * Don’t worry about topping off the gas or charge when returning :-)

Faqs

  • How do I charge this vehicle?
The charging port is located on the drivers side very close to the side mirror, push the cover in to allow the door to open. While charging successfully a green light will blink in the middle of the front dashboard, light will stay solid when charge is complete. Look for a level 2 - J1772 charging station (level one works too, just takes longer). The one nearest my house charges .03/minute and can fully charge this car in 3-4 hours (so 50-60 miles of range for approximately $5.50) Please go to CHARGEPOINT.COM for a complete list of every charging station in the state.
  • Can I pick between EV and Fuel modes while driving?
Yes, unless you’ve already used up all your stored battery charge of course. On the center console just below the gear selector is a “mode” button which allows you choose normal, sport, mountain or hold (selection displays on main screen just under speedometer). Hold mode will save your battery and uses the gas engine to provide electricity. I usually use EV mode in the city for stop and go and hold mode for highway where I can get better mileage.
  • How is this car different from any other “hybrid”?
Most hybrids are primarily a gas engine car being helped out by an electric motor for better fuel economy. This car is different because the electric motor actually propels the car at all times - the gas engine is not actually connected to the drivetrain at all. The gas engine in this car is termed a “range extender” and functions only to produce more electricity when the battery is depleted or in hold mode. Also, the engine helps out with heating and regulation of other vehicle functions, so it may activate at other times as well.
  • How can I use the information center and Apple Car Play?
Please visit https://youtu.be/u3trY7S4RK0 for this. This gentleman covers all of this much better than I could here AND with visuals.
  • How many people can fit into this vehicle? Is it ok for larger individuals?
There are 5 sets of seatbelts HOWEVER the center seat in the back is not comfortable and I only recommend it for smaller people and short trips. Additionally, I have found that all of the back seats are not comfortable for individuals over 6’3”.
  • What is that button/lever behind my left hand on the steering wheel?
This is a manual control for increased regenerative braking and can be used to slow the vehicle down as well as add a bit of juice to the battery. On vehicles with electric motors, energy from the battery makes the motor propel the car. When no energy is being applied, the motor can also give a little bit of that energy back. This is called regenerative braking because the effect also creates some resistance and slows the vehicle down as well. This effect comes into play when the vehicle coasts, the regular friction brakes are applied or at a greater rate when using this manual control.
  • Is there a charging cable in the car?
Yes, it’s in the back in a compartment on the left side of the rear cargo area. It plugs into any standard 110volt outlet but at that rate would take 10-12 hours to fully replenish an empty battery.
  • What is the dash cam for?
I use it routinely when I drive so I leave it in the car for my renters as well. If an accident were to occur, it can be referenced by either pulling the SD card or logging into with a smart phone.
  • How can I use this magnetic cell phone holder if I don’t have a magnetic case?
In the center console I have provided a few metal plates with adhesive designed to be put either on the phone or in the case. Any renter is welcome to use one if they wish.

Robert was very responsive through communications and went out of his way to ensure we had a good experience. We received a timely delivery at Denver airport despite our delayed flight, and he was thorough in explaining the quirks and features of the hybrid vehicle we rented.

Robert's Volt was fantastic for my trip. I was able to get around town and take care of my errands without having to use any gas. Plus, the Volt has great pick-up speed, so it was a pleasure to drive. Robert offers a great pick-up and drop-off service. I highly recommend the Volt and look forward to renting from him during my next trip to Denver.
