Description

This is a bigger, full sized Prius 4. It's super cheap to drive and has plenty of trunk space. It includes an IL toll pass (EZPass). It comfortably sits four, and can sit 5. It includes a backup camera, USB splitter (4 total USB slots), heated seats, and more (see Features). The back seats fold down and offer a lot of room to move coffee table sized items. I'm also testing a service where I offer to stock the car with whatever you need. Are you flying in for a camping trip and want the car geared up before you get here? Need a bag of road-trip snacks? Toiletries? You send me a specific list of items you need in the car at least 48 hours prior to the start of your trip , and I'll get them and provide a receipt. Upon completion of the trip, you keep the stuff and I'll send an adjustment out for the cost of the items plus 25%. For example, if your items cost me $100, you'll owe $125. Feel free to request whatever. Need a trunk full of oranges? O... ok... weird, but ok. I'll get it done!

Parking details

Returning the car: There is free street parking within a few blocks of 641 W Grand in every direction. However, be careful about loading zones, parking under bridges (always no parking zones, even if there is no sign), and metered zones. The gravel lot off of Hubbard is a no-parking zone as well. Free street parking is generally found on both sides of Grand Ave, both sides of Des Plaines north of Grand, but only one side south of Grand, and both sides of Union Ave. Be careful about Ohio Street. It looks safe to park, but it is a no-parking zone from 7am to 9am each day. If you are returning the car late at night, it will be ticketed in the morning. Park there only if you've texted me and I've responded that it's ok. Much appreciated, thanks.

Guidelines

Pets are welcome if you take responsibility for any interior damage. Please vacuum up the pet hair if applicable. Smoking in the car is not allowed. If you somehow spill a large volume of yogurt on the interior ceiling, please clean it up (fun renter story).

Faqs

  • Do I need to charge your car?
Nope. You drive it like normal. The car charges itself. Science rules.
  • The dashboard says BRAKE and there's a soft chime every few seconds. What is that?
The parking brake is on. It's a pedal next to the driver's left foot. Don't drive 100 miles with the parking brake on like a previous renter. Thanks :)
  • I've never driven a hybrid car. Anything I need to know?
The only thing you may not be familiar with is the shifter. It's an automatic, so no need to know manual. The only difference is that the shifter moves back to a home position by itself after you put the car in drive / reverse / park / etc. The car is still in the mode you selected even though the shifter moved back home.
  • What's the 'B' mode on the shifter?
It's for mountain driving. You won't need to use it unless you have a big road trip planned. Let me know if you do and want more info.
