Description

2014 Chevy Volt plug in hybrid. This car will run on gas or electric. Gas tank will get you 300 miles on a fill up. Electric charge will get you 30-40 mile depending on outside temperature. There is no need to charge it although it runs smoother and more efficient on electric. It has power windows, cruise control, Bluetooth, 3 charging ports, CD player, excellent sound system, air conditioning, remote keyless entry and starting, automatic locks, good hatch back trunk space and more. The car averages 47 miles per gallon but varies with electric usage. The rear seats are bucket seats with a console in the middle so the car fits 4 people max. In the winter, the car has Blizzak snow tires which are the highest quality available. I buy new snow tires every year! It is front wheel drive and the combination makes it great in the snow. I currently don't have a ski rack although skis and boards will fit inside the car in the hatch down the center. Please have gear in a dry bag. I will give the car to you with a full tank of gas and close to a full charge. You should return the car with a full tank of gas but don't worry about the charge. I do not hold you responsible for charging the car! If the car is returned without a full tank of gas, I will fill it up and request to be reimbursed per Turo's refueling policy. Please use 91 octane gas per the owner's manual.

Faqs

  • Do I need to charge the car?
No. It can run on gas only if you prefer.
  • How do I charge the car?
I will give you a charging cord which you can plug in to any standard household outlet, like in a garage. This is the slower method. The faster method is to use a charging station which runs 220v. There are free chargers throughout our valley. I recommend using the "Plug Share" app on your phone to find chargers. Or just ask me, I know where most of them are.
  • How far will it go on a full tank of gas?
    About 300 miles.
  • How far will it go on electric?
About 30-40 miles depending on the temperature outside. The colder it gets, the less range it gets and vice versa.
  • How do I turn it from electric to gas?
It does it automatically. You don't need to do anything. However, there are 4 "modes" of driving in which you can either use or reserve your charge. I'll show you upon check in. It's really easy - if you don't do anything, it will drive just fine.
  • What about driving up Vail Pass or the Continental Divide?
In this case, you want to drive in "Mountain mode" so it automatically regulates the battery usage for extra power up the mountains.
  • Do you have a cell phone holder?
Yes. It is the magnet type. I've used it for years. It doesn't harm your phone in any way. Ask me for a metal attachment upon check-in. It won't work without this.
  • Does the car have GPS?
No, but you can use your phone and the cell phone holder. Ask me for the metal attachment.
  • How do I open the gas cap to put gas in?
There is a button on the driver side door by the front of the storage pocket, below the door handle. Push it, then push in on the gas tank door.
  • What happens if I run out of electric charge?
Nothing. The car runs on gas after the electric runs out.
  • What type of gas does it take?
Please use 91 octane gas, per the owner's manual.
  • Does it have a ski or storage rack?
No, but skis and boards can fit in the hatch back down the center between the seats. Please have skis and boards in a dry bag to prevent damage to the seats and console.
  • Do you have XM radio?
XM is ready to go but I don't have a subscription. If you have a subscription to XM, you can call them to temporarily add it to my car.
  • Dude, I need my tunes.
You can Bluetooth your phone into the car and play music from your phone. There is also an aux cable, CD player, and FM radio.
  • Do I need the charge the car before I return it?
No. It can be fully depleted. That's fine. Just fill up the gas tank with 91 octane gas.
