Description

Read the guidelines: http://www.insightrental.com/guidelines/ Because this is a manual, read the drive test instructions: http://www.insightrental.com/drivetest/ Rare 6 speed manual IS250. A sporty sedan that seats 4 or 5. There's nothing outstanding about this car, not super efficient, not crazy fast, doesn't attract attention. It's just a reasonable combination of features in the best package: a front engine rear wheel drive manual transmission. I bought it because I want a Chevy SS but can't afford one yet. Be prepared to demonstrate proficiency with driving a manual transmission, or else I'll cancel your trip with no refund. Read the FAQ to see the 5 skills you have to demonstrate. Show up, tell me the 5 things you will demonstrate, ask any questions you have about them, and then drive around until I'm satisfied that you can handle the car. If you tell me, "I've driven stick for many years, I'm a master." I will only hold you to a higher standard and you're more likely to fail because you have some bad habits that are hard to lose.

Guidelines

Because this is a manual, read the drive test instructions: http://www.insightrental.com/drivetest/ Also, read the full guidelines: http://www.insightrental.com/guidelines/ Here are the main topics covered. 1. Have a friendly face as your profile photo. 2. Tell the host why you're renting. 3. Tell me if you can drive a manual, if you can't and would like to learn (free lessons), and whether you have a preference. 4. Be flexible with your trip times and vehicle. 5. Give hosts your arrival plans. 6. Show up on time. 7. Allow 10 - 15 minutes for photos, pre-trip inspection, and an overview of how to operate the car. 8. Call the host right away if you have any issues during your trip. 9. Communicate your return plans. 10. Bring the car back clean and refuelled. 11. If there's damage, tell me about it. 12. Pay your parking tickets right away. 13. Write a review. 14. Check the toll bill for accuracy and approve it. 15. Call me next time you need a car. 16. If you're renting as a group, the driver shouldn't pay. Old guidelines: Show up on time or I will cancel your trip with no refund. Tell me what your trip plan is: who's riding with you, where you're going, how much luggage, how you're coming to pick up the car (maybe I'll pick you up if it's convenient), etc. I can't serve you well if you don't give me any information. "Thanks for letting me use your car." is not a booking request and I will wonder whether you're shady, stupid, or both. I lose money when people crash my cars. The next renter will have a bad time if you return a car late or dirty, so I hold my renters to high standards.

Faqs

  • What skills do you check in the manual transmission checkride?
    1. You're able to launch the car without excessive clutch slippage. Keep it below 1500 rpm, engage the clutch fully by 8 mph. 2. You remove your foot from the clutch pedal, move it to the dead pedal when you're not actively shifting or starting the car. 3. You never rest your hand on the shift lever. Finish your shift and move your hand back to the steering wheel. Leaving your hand on the shifter wears out the shift forks, eventually making the transmission sloppy. 4. You shift gently, allowing time for the gears to synchronize. No "power shifting". The shift lever isn't a switch, it physically actuates a complicated mechanism. 5. No downshifts to first gear. Go into first from neutral when the car is stopped or under 5 mph.

I had a blast driving Charvak's Lexus IS 250 recently. It handled well and it's sound system made driving for my business trip way more fun. This is my second time renting from Charvak and he was profession, responsive, and easy to work. I especially appreciated his flexibility allowing me to return the car a bit early on the last day. Full marks and I would definitely rent from Charvak again!

This was my first time renting from Charvak - he was helpful and responsive from the reservation straight through the dropoff. I appreciate that worked with me to make my experience a great one. The car was an absolute pleasure to drive. Would definitely this car/from Charvak again!

Charvak provides a very clean and professional service. Very clear and quick communication, flexible, and ultimately professional service. I appreciate the creature comforts in the vehicles he's chosen. His Lexus IS250 was an excellent choice for our cape trip: smooth sailing on the highway, nice sound system, and the rare manual was simply a joy. Thanks again! I'll definitely be renting from Charvak again in the future.
