Audi A4 2012
First off, dealing w/ Jim has been very positive. Despite being busy in a demanding job + family, his response time is almost instantaneous. He is very accommodating & punctual. Having lived in Switzerland where the high-speed trains leave on the dot, Jim arrived in like manner at our garage & I was able to get through the SL & UT counties before the 'constipated' (German slang) snail-pace 'rush' hour.
As a recently retired geologist & ski-bum, I highly recommend renting Jim's A4 for a biz or pleasure trip. Will rent from him again this summer & in the fall, so, get in line, people.
Have been driving German & Italian cars, all manual, (BMWs, Audis + Alpha Romeo & Lancia Beta) most of my life. My daughter drives a VW Jetta. Back than in EU, no speed limit; to get a DL is very hard, expensive & takes 3 months of pro-driving school. I am used to driving 120-140 mph, legally & safely. The last 7 y we've had a SUV w/ a stick, too.
My point is that Jim's Audi A4 Quattro S is a precision hi-tech machine, much better than our last Audi 10 y ago. It is very comfy, quiet, taut handling, smooth 6-speed short stick, very elastic engine (most uphill grades are driven in 6th speed, i.e. great mileage, at least 30 mpg - Subaru fans, eat your heart out... ;-) - the back seats fold making for an easy access through the trunk and/or the back doors including skis & other long gear.
However, the 2.0 l engine is remarkably swift, peppy & powerful for passing semis on 2-lane Hwys, e.g., the steep, serpentine climb from Price. Word of caution, though, the A4 is very fast & the AWD corners great (no over/under-steering) & requires a firm hand & a focused mind in heavy traffic - think Moab - like a racehorse.
Lastly, enjoyed the sat-radio greatly in the 'middle-of-nowhere' after an all day hike & dinner, humming along to the great Am. Songbook; great fun R&R. Slept like a baby under the vast, starry skies of our surreal SW scenery.
There you have it.
