What a fun Jeep, we rented it for a weekend and the kids wanted to take it everywhere, and sit it in it when it wasn't going anywhere. We didn't take it off road, but it's sure seems to be set up for it. The lift kit gives you a lot more Jeep than a rental will, its got some real presence and is fun to drive. Robin was easy to work with: responsive to messages and flexible on timing. One thing to keep in mind if renting with the summer doors: they don't have side mirrors, which took some getting used to.
We had a great time with this thing. It's extremely conspicuous. Robin picked us up right at the airport and showed us everything. This is a fun, modified, off-road vehicle, so renters should be prepared for it not to be as convenient for city driving as, say, a kia rio. There are no side mirrors, the stereo doesn't work, you will need to cover it at night and during rain (at the time of driving no convertible top was available, just a cover). Drop-off did not go very well, but I expect the circumstance was unusual. On the last day of our trip we didn't drive it. We had the car off for about 36hrs and when leaving to return it we found the battery dead. We didn't have anyone around or jumper cables and so had to get AAA to jump it, and it took them a while to get us going. Luckily we had enough time before our flight to remedy the situation. No lights were left on overnight so we weren't expecting this problem and don't know what caused it. No regrets. If you're looking for something fun, and you're prepared for it to be rough around the edges, this is a great car.
Robin's Jeep was an A M A Z I N G! We turned heads everywhere we went. It was in the summer configuration so no doors or roof...which was awesome! Pumping our own tunes through the BT stereo as we drove around town and through trails really helped make our visit to Portland one of our favorite domestic getaways yet. Thanks so much!
Vehicle was dope. Took it on an adventure in the woods and now I'm convinced I need LED mount lights. It was comfy, ran great in wet conditions, and was super cool about extending it for more days. Will definitely rent the vehicle again.
