I've owned this vehicle for 2 years now. Just replaced the soft top, so enjoy. I do most of the maintainemce on the jeep myself. Treat my baby right. Have fun! :)
2007 Jeep WranglerShane's Jeep154.56
I wish I could write a more positive review as Jeeps are always a great thing to have in your life, but I cannot compromise on safety. There are some good things that I'll outline at the bottom
SAFETY: While not directly affecting the safety of the vehicle, all the warning lights are illuminated on the Dash. Shane indicated this was due to whoever replaced the ball joint recently tripped off the signals. I do have concerns with the repair job, however as the steering on the Jeep is extremely unresponsive/loose. When I was driving on the interstate, the steering would dramatically over steer when changing lanes, but would understeer and play loose when making slightly directional shifts. At one point, I had to make a hard left turn, and the column did not easily straighten up and I nearly ran into a car. I did open the hood to see if any fluid levels might be the problem. While I didn't see anything indicative of the handling issues, the Engine Coolant was almost completely empty. I was having a hard time getting a read with the dip stick, but the oil seemed low too.
OTHER ISSUES: I rented the vehicle for the "convertible" features, but Shane did not know how to take the roof off. Since you are using the valet key, you are unnable to get into the glove box to look at the manual. After googling directions, I realized that multiple pieces of the canopy arms were broken/missing connectors which is the reason it had been hard to take off the roof. I'm not sure if this damage was done by a previous renter or the owner, but it was very frustrating to not be able to utilize the very characteristic I had rented the vehicle for.
PROS: The sound system in the Jeep is pretty good, and I was able to half way take off the top (sun roof setup?). Driving around in the sunshine was great. I'll definitely rent this car again if they are able to show they are better maintaining the vehicle and will update my rating then.
TIPS: due to the soft top nature of a Jeep, it is impossible to fully secure the vehicle, so do not leave any items in vehicle. Wave at other Jeeps you pass... it's a Jeep thing.
